Subdomain vs inner folder

Hi, guys what do you think vs the use of a inner folder for tutorials inside a domain with 1800 refering domains vs the use of a subdomain with 280, im thinking on redirect from the subdomain to the folder

so from blog.mysite.com to mysite.com/how-to/

I should consider something special?

unless, you want to create content that might compete with your main money page on your domain, then you would move to sub-domain. this is why major tech companies use blog.domain.com , instead of domain.com/blog. take a look at blog.oracle.com .... oracle wants to create content but does not want it to compete with its product pages that they care for ranking.

having competing pages on a domain, really messes up your ranking.

A subfolder is similar to a subdomain in that it allows you to create categories of content, but they are set up differently on servers. Unlike subdomains, there is no server partitioning involved with subfolders. A subfolder is housed on the same server and any of its link juice goes back to the domain.
