Hostgator allows infinite subdomains I think.

All you have to do is use a * DNS entry for the hostname, then it'll match *.yoursite.com where * is anything.

of course, you can create 1000s of sub domains on hostgator and make sure you've avoided duplicate document roots while creating sub domains..:detective

Indeed, it's the document roots that will confuse you :p

If that is a shared plan you can create unlimited domain and subdomains with that plan ! But however when you get beyond the limit of the file count ! YOU GAME IS OVER !!!!

The allow a limited file count for the shared hosting !! Been there done that ! And trust me, its such a pain in ass !!

why would you want 1000's of subdomains? the * entry that bartosimponio suggested will make any subdomain typed go to your root so in effect you have infinite subdomains. If you need them to actually be there for some reason yes you can create them but you might need a spreadsheet to keep track of everything even if you make your root folder be the same as the subdomain name
