    Hey all,

I'm sure this idea has been covered already but I'm looking for some good opinions on this idea, and it might be outdated by now.

My idea is to make a website such as xxx-info.com and then have this website get mini-niche sites on the subdomains, such as tennis.xxx-info.com

This site will contain multiple mini-niches and I plan on starting one niche with 20 articles all around 500 words+ The website will be in dutch.

What do you guys think of this? The main site xxx-info.com would be a ~500 word article aswell linking to the subdomains.

As mentioned before, I planned on writing about 20 articles to start off with. I'd prefer to upload em all in one bunch, or spread out over like a week but I doubt the effectiveness of that. Is it waay better to spread them all over like 2-3 months?

Looking forward to your answers! :)

There's nothing wrong with that. That would be synonymous with building a large authority site. The only difference would be the use of subdomains. If you can rank each subdomain, then use subdomains. If you don't have the budget, use categories instead, publish all the articles on your root domain, and build just one site.

Yeah that's interesting aswell, I don't have such a big budget but was thinking about using subdomains as a sort of ''micro niche sites''. So that tennis.xxx-info.com would be a complete tennis-website in Google's eyes instead of just a post on xxx-info.com/tennis

Do you think this makes a big difference, or should I just go for categories?

I think I'll go for subdomains so that I can make it a completely separate website. Also adding an email list etc!

Hi there. I'm also interesting with that issue. My problem is:

Lets says ive a domain like videos.com. Technically in this website there will be alot of video category. funny, news, howto, etc.

Well, i have some main keywords. Forexample: "funny videos", "news videos", "sport videos".

But i dont really want to spend money for every keywords by hiring domain and server. funnyvideos.com newsvideos.com or sportvideos.com.

the main idea is the same: video

I thought, maybe i have to do like videos.com/funny or videos.com/funny-videos
i didnt like this. because i want also every subdomain different webstei. Yes it is related and will be linked from main domain but i want to be more specific. i want to get all traffic from the keyword.

i meant funny.videos.com site is only about the funny videos. nothing more. i want to say to google "hey this is seperate website." but also i want to use -videos - keyword as my keyword related with funny.

i meant funny.videos.com will use "funny videos" keyword.

i do not want google think funny.videos.com is part of videos.com

btw subdomain's articles will list in the main site. latest articles, most read etc.

and lastly in software background i want to use wordpress single install. if it is possbile in this scenerio.

    what do you think? tyvm.

please do remember that there is a difference between :

    xyz.domain.com and domain.com/xyz

On many hosts the folder is created inside domain and hence sub-domain is a part of the main domain whereas with some, sub-domain is totally different than main domain. I remember this because i have wasted 3-4 months time behind xyz.domain.com method whereas other method works fine.
