Sub page indexing, but not its root?

I bought an expired domain to use as money site and started posting content on it. It's been maybe one and a half week now. G has indexed the home page and a couple other pages, but not my money pages. What's strange is that a sub-page to the non-indexed one has been indexed, so it looks like this:

domain dot com/not indexed/indexed

The one that has been indexed is one of the last posts I published even. The non-indexed page that I'd like to rank is a lot longer content-wise than the others, so maybe this could have an impact? I use no spun content at all and have an xml-sitemap, no blocks from robots.txt either. So both posts were present at the time of crawling, but only one got indexed.

Is it usual that only some outer parts of the site are being indexed?
