I want to make a lot of websites (each having a different domain name), but that would cost a lot.

Is it possible to just buy a short domain and using it for sub-domains?

Is there a difference in terms of SEO performance? Also, is there any other difference I need to know of?

Thanks!

Just buy something general such as:

bestcellphonesof2011.net
and then use subdomains such as bestcellphonesof2011.net/tmobileg1, bestcellphonesof2011.net/rimblackberry9780, etc.

I'm thinking of the same Colton....

I wonder how SEO will be if I was to do the same

- purchase a domain example blackhatworld.com
- add as many sub domains as possible such as sample.blackhatworld.com or sample2.blackhatworld.com and so on.....
- will google like subdomains websites or not... if the subdomain is properly optimized on/off page.

Please share your thoughts on this ....

It was my understanding that sub-domains don't receive as much credibility as a main domain, but that "G" does look at the sub-domain still. It is a good idea to have the sub-domain be associated in some way to the actually main domain for better relevance.

subdomain can be very powerful sometimes. I remember i bought sharpnews.info and my sub domain is finance.sharpnews.info and my site go up to PR3 in 2month.

hope it helps =)

Wow, now that would be an awesome way to increase your pagerank. I wonder if that happens all the time or just in your specific instance.

I understand that subdomain needs to be related in some ways towards your main domain for SEO purposes.

You know what I'm going to test this and see how well it works for my business.

anyone else has any other opinion on this topic?

Guys you are getting confused here.....

Sub domain is something that comes before the main domain for example

subdomain.maindomain.com

or

www.maindomain.com

What you described was

maindomain.com/directory

Anything after the tld / cctld (in this case the .com) is a directory.

I think Jerzydawg is the only confused person here...

everyone else I believe is on the same page

here's what l did with one generic domain name......l will use an example as l have sold the domain and all of its subdomains in a one off deal.

lets say the website was doglovers.com

what l did was to list as many subdomains as possible all on the same ip address and using the same server...so hers what l did...

labrador.doglovers.com
anydogname.doglovers.com

They were all auto blogs with adsense blocks in the opening fold and l did 50 of the them in just over a week.

Then l used bookmarking demon to bookmark them, within the first month they were pulling over 250 usd per month off them and the more l bookmarked them over a three month period the adsense kept on climbing.

I started to monitize the sites with amazon links and started to see some sales but then decided to flip the website and l got just over 1800 usd for the combined websites....

no l realise that l boke most of the advice given by the seo experts but purely through bookmarking and articles l got enough combined traffic to make it pay so l didn't really bother about the seo to much.

I have spoken to the girl who purchased it fom me and she says she has maintained the adsense earnings and is happy with it.

So my advice would be just to try it, test it for yourself.
