OK, I'm not really a complete noob, but a question has come up for me that has my kind of scratching my head, and searching for the answer on Google was no help. I've been playing a lot with tools like YouLikeHits, AddMeFast, SocialClerks, etc., lately (getting excellent results, btw, in boosting rankings, across the board). One thing that has me kind of baffled is the automated URL viewing. What benefit does that have to the recipient of those views? I can't see how it helps with Google. I'm not sure how it would even help with Alexa if the person isn't using the Alexa toolbar. What's the benefit of just getting views to your site? I can maybe see it with YouTube videos, but for just a website, how does completely un-targeted, or even automated, traffic do anything other than put additional load on your server?
