I'm writing a book, and this is the latest installment.

So today, I need a replacement keyboard for a Lenovo X200, and another for a Lenovo X61. I'm spending the Dr.'s money, so speed, quality, reliability are more important than price. I always try to limit my shipping distance to the greatest extent possible, so the search was narrowed-down to about 3 Vendors in "Buy it Now", arranged from lowest cost to highest, and they were all within $1.00, so I could have picked any of them.

Vendor #1 (the retarded dumbass) had the lowest price. So, I went looking for a reason to NOT buy from him. Lowest prices usually means lowest quality, so I'm looking at his store with questions in my mind such as "Are these factory original?", and "Are the new and not used?" and "What's his feedback like? (btw, over 5000 transactions at almost 100%), and his location was in California, so it looked like this was my guy. Right part, right price, right location and right in front of me, but Wait? What's this? Some kind of ranty little passage near the bottom of the retarded jackass eBay vendor's site? What's this say?

So, just as my hand was reaching for the mouse to "Add to Cart" and then "Buy it Now", my eyes developed a will of their own and demanded that I read that little literary ditty. Something to the effect that:

"If something goes wrong, don't just leave negative feedback. Call me and we can take care of it. Leaving negative feedback doesn't solve problems."

Hmm, I thought. Negative feedback doesn't solve problems. Well, what if the Buyer doesn't want to jack around with "working things out"? What if the Buyer's (that would be MINE) time is worth more than the chumpy-ass part?

So then, I imagined what my life was going to be like, if after 5 to 10 days a part arrives and it's
1) The wrong part
2) Not new
3) Broken
4) Smells of cat-pee
5) The box arrives empty
6) etc....

Do I want to call Mr. Vendor? HELL NO. Why do I want to "work with" the fuck-up that fucked-up my order the first time? Pay shipping in both directions, add another 5+ days to the delivery, and for what?
What's in it for me? Jack-shit, is what's in it for me. I'm supposed to fuck around with Mr. Retarded Jackass eBay Vendor, just so Mr. Snuggum-Wuggums doesn't get a negative ding on his 99.999999% feedback rating? Fuck that. I'm not taking that risk of dealing with some Prima Donna concerned about his feedback. I'm doing business that cares about ME, my time, my client's time and delivering fair value for what was paid.

I bought from the next guy down. They were in New Jersey (always a minus), but at least they weren't retarded, going on about how "negative feedback doesn't solve problems". And he's right. Not buying from a retarded jackass is what solves problems, and in advance.

I hear a lot of crap from Vendors having to deal with scammers, etc... At the other end of the spectrum, there are people like me, that are willing to spend a bit extra in order to have some sense that the transaction will go smoothly. Shit, it's not even my money. You-all might want to think about that when thinking about your price point and what words you are going to use on your eBay listing. This jackass put effort into first making sure his price was the lowest, so I would look at him first, and then gave me a damn good reason to buy from the next guy. I got things to do, bills to pay, goals to achieve and deadlines to meet. What I don't have time for is fucking around with a dimwit more concerned about his feedback rating than delivering service. That's why he didn't get my (customer's) money today, and some knucklehead from New Joisey did.

I've had a Fiverr vendor message me and ask me to rewrite my positive review because I mentioned something about his service that he didn't want folks to know about in advance. Even my positive feedback wasn't good enough lol. Buyer beware I guess.

To be fair to the guy you get a lot of new people on ebay who will shoot you a negative for the slightest thing, they don't seem to realise just how important the 100% feedback is, especially now that ebay limit listings etc based on percentages.

"If something goes wrong, don't just leave negative feedback. Call me and we can take care of it. Leaving negative feedback doesn't solve problems."

I disagree with you. This is exactly what you want in a seller..someone who will take a phone call and resolve your problem...someone who cares about their reputation.

The goal is to pick the right Vendor that doesn't have problems. The best way to solve a problem is to make certain one doesn't happen in the first place.
Oh, and if you post that belief in your eBay vendor thread, I'll buy from someone that intends to do it right the first time, and doesn't ask or expect anything from me other than my money.

I have to side with the idea that this seller was trying to avoid unnecessary negative feedback, which some people can be trigger happy about. He's right too...negative feedback doesn't solve problems if it's a legit seller. Once you leave that feedback, it's unlikely he's going to want to send you a cat pee free keyboard.

I think, not that you care what I think. that you interpreted this in the wrong vein. To me he is just saying "Give me a chance to fix it if there is anything wrong before you give me negative feedback." Of all the stupid things I see on ebay, that one is innocuous.

What I find fascinating is that it bothered you so much you made this post.

He's right, negative feedback does not solve problems. Like others above said people will neg feedback you for the slightest thing. Thing that used to get me about eBay WAS THE HUGE BOLD CAP LOCK RANT at end of listing with lots of !!!!!!!!!!!! Something along the lines of: DO NOT BID IF YOU DON'T INTEND ON PAYING!!!!!

If someone's the type of person to hastily leave negative feedback instead of contacting seller or bidding and not sure if they want, they're sure as hell not 1 to read the whole long blown out description. I tend to not deal with these sellers because they're already in a negative state of mind about me before I even bid or buy.

As for your book; I would suggest you edit out the "retarded jackass", "fucked-up" and all that jazz. You give yourself a chance to offend people. Offended people get refunds. Some people won't give a shit and some will actually bond with your words more because of the vocabulary. If you don't use offensive language, you won't offend anyone and no one's going to ask for refund because lack of cussing. Just a suggestion man.
