Lately iv been getting alot of traffic from stumbleupon , well the majority of it in anyways.
But im wondering is it useless? Iv noticed my adsense cpm rates dropped

and is it only useless because people dont click on the ads or is it just a bad source of traffic ?
What if i optimize my ads perfectly for stumbleupon would i still have low cpm and cpc rates even if it got alot of clicks ?

Anyone.................?

Well im posting some of my posts there and i get like 1-2k traffic from there if the post is good, and its not bad for me... I guess all depends on the article....

Your quality score has lowered because of the conversion rate for advertisers based on the traffic. It has everything to do with buyer intent and conversions and nothing to do with traffic source unless you are sending no conversion bot traffic at your Adsense ads.

hey can you explain that a little more ,, im not sending any bot traffic all traffic is from social media and stumbleUpon.
So do you mean its because im gaining traffic but none of it them are interested in the ads displayed and because of no clicks?

You know you need to make sure the traffic your driving is actually interested in your products/ads
to make any money. You have to find a way to target thous visitors your driving, to the content that
your hosting.

Its a viral site with a few twists, but the rates were higher before the SU traffic.
Il test the waters with this one by not posting to SU and trying to get more other social media traffic and see if it increases

social media traffic always hurting adsense's ctr. No wonder if you get a lower cpm.

Just curious paid traffic through ST ads or free traffic through ST?

Stumble Upon traffic is terrible at best really. They rarely stay on page for more than 10 seconds before clicking away.

Personally I'd just wait it out and let the SU traffic die off, it's less than useless! I certainly wouldn't be actively trying to increase SU traffic anyway!

I guess that the first problem with Stumbleupon traffic is that the users of Stumbleupon have a really short attention span. They are there to find something interesting, so if the title of the article doesn't attract them, they'll press the button. So, the CTR is definitely going to be a lot lower than what it would be with search traffic. Facebook and Pinterest traffic is better for Adsense.

For something like Stumbleupon you will need something very interesting, if they clicked on it and find it not related / not interesting they will leave quickly. So even if you optimise you ads i dont thik it will make a huge difference.

I've had up to 60k pv/day. I'd suggest that you keep submitting quality posts from your website. Even if StumbleUpon traffic is not as good as it is from other social media, it does provide exposure and potential sharing. I wouldn't call it useless at all.

Most people report a high bounce rate with StumbleUpon traffic; this is what I have seen as well. This can be because of the appeal of the content that you present, but largely I think it's just how the StumbleUpon system is. It's designed for people to do just that: Stumble from one piece of content on to the next. Last time I checked they don't even have a way for people to click a link to actually visit your site if they even did find your site interesting. Basic traffic exchanges offer more functionality that this!

And definitely wouldn't recommend paying for traffic there due to the very setbacks that I've mentioned above. Maybe for some people it's beneficial, but there's definitely more effective ways to generate traffic imo.

Oh, I'm sorry. I was referring only to free traffic. I haven't ever used their paid traffic and have hardly taken it into consideration. I have thought about it at first, but it doesn't really seem worth it.

Was only referring to submitting your pages until something goes "viral".
