Studying in Denmark

So, as I am about to finish secondary school I have finally started to actively look for ideas where to continue my studies.

Since I am very interested in computers, I have chosen to study Computer Science, however, I'd rather study abroad as the education system in my home country is not that good.

Thanks to the fact that I live in an European country, the studies in Denmark are free of charge, except for the living expenses. I was just wondering about the student life there. I am also aware of the fact that the cost of living there is high, so I will try to save some of the money I make from IM and, of course, search for a job there. The only downside I find is the lack of knowing Danish.

If you are or have been studying in Denmark, please share your experience.

Well I guess that depends where you are living.
In the bigger cities like Copenhagen, Aarhus, Aalborg and Odense I guess you could find a job at a cafe or something. The problem is that there really isn't alot of jobs right now. The crisis have hit the job market hard here in Denmark. Another oppotunerty is some Tele marketing jobs. I do see they some times seek salesmen with another language.
Where are you from? Where do you plan on living in Denmark?

That's pretty much what I have heard too.
I will apply for 3 different schools in Copenhagen, Aarhus and Aalborg.
Also, I am from Latvia so I doubt I would do any good as a Tele marketer.
 
BTW I think there is a new law here in Denmark.
It's something about if you work 3 months in Denmark prior to education you are entitled to SU. SU is some money students over 18 get every month to live for. The law is only for students from other EU countries.
SU is about $1000 a month.

Yeah, I have heard this too, however, I was told that the law is yet to be accepted. If it was, it would be amazing!
 
Yup living expenses are enourmous. You need around 1000 USD a month to barely make it. Then you gotta find a really cheap dorm, and you be fine. I suggest you to study in Aarhus if you want the best study enviroment. Socially Aarhus beats both Aalborg, Odense and Copenhagen. If you get a job I suggest you to work minimum 12 hours a week, as this makes it possible for you to also get 5500 DKK(1k usd) for free monthly in Study Support by the Danish government.
 
I'm from Denmark, and start in 10 grade in this year. 10th grade is a extra grade, you can take, most people like me take it as a year where you just relax. But i'll recommend you to move to Denmark, and study her.

Thank you for your reply, I will add Business Academy Aarhus as my first priority.
And yes, I am more than willing to work 12 hours/week, it's just that I am worried I won't find any job.
 
Yes' this is exactly why the Danish education system need to be revised. Either make it private or make it more strict. 10th grade should not be a possibility.

No attack on you Simon, I took 10th grade myself just to chill out and play computer games.

Go to Aarhus... Trust me... Much better than Copenhagen and much more abroad students also. + Cheaper appartments ^^

Well, that isn't quite true. The constitution Plimsol is referring to is under EU law (not Danish) and has been enforced for years (if not decades).

Care to explain? From my research it is indeed cheaper to live in a city other than Copenhagen.
