Study Internet Marketing in College ? [HELP]

Hi guys, a friend of mine asked me about college, I'm not studying there but I know BHW is an excellent resource for internet marketing that's why I'm asking here.

So, basically, he's studying computer science in college but in his free time he likes to build websites, rank with SEO and he started making money with affiliate marketing (amazon).

He told me he would like to keep studying also internet marketing in college but there is no school for that. He told me he would like to switch major from computer science to economics/business/marketing.

But he told me he is still unsure to make this decision.

What do you think about it ? Should I tell him to switch major or dropout?

I think that computer science could be valuable for him in the long term instead of having a marketing degree (indeed I learnt a LOT about marketing on my own without college lol )

anyone ? someone studied here internet marketing in college?

They use the term Digital Marketing instead of Internet Marketing.

It changes so much every year that what he'll learn will be more or less 50% irrelevant or more in 3 years. Sounds like he already knows what he's doing though if he's making some money.

I dunno, maybe I'm jaded cuz I'm not using any of my education. It hasn't helped me at all beyond saying that I have a Bachelor's degree.

I'm no expert, but my advice for him would be to stick with CS and use those skills to save money (DIY development) in creating IM ventures. No reason he can't become experienced in both without switching majors.

I say this as a current CS major with interest in IM.

I would say that if he is good at marketting as he is doing in amazon and want to focus on one thing then just do marketting.
Otherwise having different skills like cs and marketting is not a problem
