Hi all
I'm working on a site that has been live since 2015.
The site had been neglected with no new content added in at least a year (no new pages added, no changes to existing pages). The website does not have a blog.
There were 4 service pages - With under 700 words on each.
I created 2 new pages to attract services that the company offers - but did not have on their website. These were published early July - I think July 10th. Both pages are over 1500 words.
I created a brief by looking at the top 5 rankings pages for each service keyword. Made my h2 tags. Used a mix of manual content and chatgpt throughout.
Neither of these pages are ranking still.
Last week i added internal links (they were previously just in the navigation) from the home page, about us page, and the 4 existing service pages. At the weekend I reworked the content for both pages, manually rewriting everything to remove any traces of AI.
I have also added another 5 service pages.
Only 1 has been indexed, and it has under 500 words. It is the page I would deem the lowest quality. This is the only service page that has ranked.
The website does have a lot of thin pages, which have crawled not indexed issues in GSC. I've identified this with the business owner and am waiting for confirmation to delete all these thin pages.
I'm really struggling to think about what else I can do to index these pages. Especially as 2 have them have been live for about 6 weeks now.
Any suggestions on what else I could do to try and index these?
My thinking is:
Posting individual service page links on Facebook, LinkedIn and GMB
Build some local citations (my plan will be 50 from bright local)
Add all service page urls to footer
Outside of this - i'm not too sure what else I could do. Any advice please?
