Common mistake is mixing client-side redirects or issues with click idempotency. One of my mates said that there are 2 kinds of people: those who write logic and those who eventually will. Always check the logs and perform correlations.

cloaking has to be tested multiple times. Most people think like "oh if I see the offer, it’s good." after cloaking. But it doesnt work that way, it needs to be tested against real bot traffic patterns. And what sort of troubles are you facing to set your servers up?

Most common newbie error is redirecting by user agent and not by a combination of factors. You should always have more than one trigger.
