Struggling to make money

IM is all about believing in yourself and having the ability to destroy old and building new plans all the time.
Stick to one thing and have at least 1 true skill - Writting, programming, painting or whatever to be able to start from scratch because you never know when your empire falls and you will have to rebuild it :)

Good luck!

Just pick a single method, one that you feel comfortable with and dedicate all of your time to it. Right now I'm bouncing between facebook and adsense. If I spend more time on facebook I could make $5 instead of $3, but those are just pennies so I don't really bother.

worst advice ever
How so? If you read his post he said he has tried "many many methods", hes obviously not focused, He needs to go through one method through blood, sweat and tears first and once he is successful in that he can try another.

And what is your advice to him? That he continue doing/reading 1 million different methods people tell him to?

IMers should start here....

Learn a bit of web design, you are certainly going to need it for little edit and quick and non complicated web design.

Email marketing - Statistic showed that it takes 2 to 7 contacts to close a sale.. If you don't have an opt in, squeeze page or one form of email marketing then there are many kinds of MMO you can't succeed at.

SEO - Becoming complicated for many these days but truth is, you can't do much without ranking your site for free traffic.

As a beginner, i think Adsense is the way to go.
Convincing people to click a banner is easier than making them spend their money and the feedback is much quicker.

Many useful tips, thank you everyone. :)

The road to success is not a straight line. I've done a shit load of things since I stopped working for someone else. Seriously, 19 out of 20 ventures fail, and the 20th pays for them all and then some. I'm not just focused on IM. If he's been doing this for a year and and has only made a few hundred bucks, that sounds like mistake if he keeps it up. Yeah yeah yeah..... you might feel better if you never quit, and I might sound like a sore loser if I tell you to stop. Some people need to wake the fuck up and realize that they're not cut out for certain things. I'm not good at a ton of things, and it takes a great deal of self awareness and business sense to make a GOOD decision to quit something with pride. Hubris will make you go broke, quick fast and in a hurry.

My advice is to get a fucking job. Most people try to get into IM to make "easy money". That's what is wrong with this generation of entreprenuers. Everyone wants to be the next Zuckerberg by spamming payday loan links and content locking naked pictures of %celebrity%. The fact is, life sucks, it's hard, and most people lose.

He might just have to realize there is a 99% chance he is one of those losers.

Put your pride away and realize you suck at most things, just like the rest of us.

There is probably one thing he's good at, but it sure as shit isn't making money on the internet.

Stop spending money, work on something and when the money starts to come in, up scale it with money.

as cliche as it sounds man, "dont give up". in 2010, i touched on IM for a lil and only made 15 bucks took a break. this past summer, i put aside my music to focus on I.M because i am graduating college next fall and I didn't want to just come out of college jobless. I' tried sooo many methods, I tried amazon sites, bought 4 domains; one got sandboxed. the other only made 4 dollars, then these past two weeks i tried another method [ non amazon] and made $4000 these past 2.5 weeks [ with $0 investment]. this was a very happy moment for me, because i have been trying very hard, and i have felt the same way you feel now. overall, if i stop earning today, I can re-invest and continue on to something new. just keep it up man, and SPIN methods. a lot of times, the methods that are posted now are aged, and the direct word for word method wont work for all. The best method lies within your brain. Once you have read enough and understand how the internet works and how conversion funnels work, you will be able to earn.

As for investing money, put that money away, just save it, until you have found a method that is really eye opening and has made you money with no investment, THATS when you should invest in the method to scale it, as others have said.

Overall, keep at it. My main goal is to be free from a 9 to 5, as im sure many others share the same goal.

P.S, im still a newbie

If you can manage to waste a couple hundred dollars and not make a cent, then internet marketing is not for you. Seeing as how you've made $35, all I can say is keep trying and focus on ONE method and ONE method only. Once you start doing random things and waste your time with 20 methods at a time, you won't make much money. FOCUS.

If I can give a Noob some advice -

I would say whatever you are doing: PPC, PPV, media buying, content locking, social networking...whatever, I would suggest
running a white hat website on the side. Something that you really enjoy reading and writing about.

Keep all the links on this site 100% white hat. Don't rush anything and overtime you will have something when all else fails.
Somebody gave me this advice and when my main method crashed, I had a solid website with 57, high quality articles that was ranking
for several long tail keywords. The domain was aged and I had a ton of natural backlinks.

This way I was never at zero.

doing this now with white hat affiliate programs; some bigger than others

HOORAY!I found a method that works for me! I used the pinterest+blogger+adsense method and I already have gotten 600 unique visitors, thank you for all the help everyone! :arms:

Now just stick to that whole Pinterest shenanigan and you should be golden. You do not need to invest 'hundreds of dollars' to be successful. Just start small, and then you will bank large.

Don't give up, I started at a young age (15) and now I'm 18 and I'm making bank. Stay focused and keep trying don't keep changing methods, stick to one and keeping improving.

May I ask you when did you decided "this is the method" I am gonna scale up or work on? What thing made you decide to stick with that method and not the docens or hundreds floating around the internet? How did you know "this was it"?

Thanks
