Don't ever sell your tools. I have gone through rough times and never sold any tools... up to 5 toolboxes and starting to eye those rolling tool chest carts. Tools enable independence.
You should be able to easily outclass the scrubs doing shade tree work on CL. Use your apprenticeship as a credential on CL.
You can get a decent truck for $500-1k if you keep a close watch on the ads. Put decals on your car with your DBA if you want to make it look more official.
