Strapi Headless CMS for E-commerce: Is it Better than WordPress?

I have used Strapi cms as a backend for an E-commerce website that sells Perfumes and cosmetics (it's just for a friend who has a perfume store), and the results were very great, the website got a high score on google search console, and got some traffic on it's own (the website has not been used but my friend got some orders without ads or even list all of his products), so I think for someone who got a small to medium business Strapi may got a solution for Products uploads (there is no limits on the number of products you can upload), the website is live at audinastore.com (Note: it's just a test, no real business as my friend still not using it right now).
But this got me thinking of how we could use Strapi for more complex web apps?

I’ve had my eye on medusa.js can and next.js front end for quite a while. I haven’t seen this particular cms before. I will move away from Wordpress and woo hopefully by the end of 2026 with one of these options. As long as it’s self hosted and open source. Medusa.js and next.js fits the bill.

You can do a lot with Strapi. I would encourage you to try it, and yes you can self host Strapi.
And it goes very well with Next.js, you can build a really good apps using this combination.

medusa.js is specifically built for e-commerce. That’s specifically what I do for a living. I’ve checked them both out and medusa.js comes with a lot of features right out of the box you need for marketing on your store that if you were using woocommerce you’d have to buy a plugin for.

After looking at it more and looking at strapi I’m going to go with medusa.js for ecom. I am still keeping strapi in mind for other projects I am working on now. I’m still building them in Wordpress currently but that’s because I need to get them operational for more income.

Always good when a non-Wordpress CMS can get some traction.
