Strange strategy

Let's say I have a product and I want to give it away for free when somebody buys an unrelated product through my Clickbank link. Okay this sounds strange, let's give you an example.

Example: I promote my own ebook about Personal Development on Youtube but what I really want is that people buy a completely unrelated Weight Loss program. The reason is that I know the owner/creator of that particular program and I want to help her to make sales.

First I make a video about Personal Development and promote my ebook. Then I tell them to click the link and buy the Weight Loss program to get the PD ebook for free.

So when someone clicks my link in the YT description he/she buys the Weight Loss program and I will send them the Personal Development ebook. Of course they also get the Weight Loss program.

So the buyer buys something he's not interested in but gets what he wants for free. :)

Is this allowed ? What could go wrong?

So why just not sell your ebook instead of selling unrelated product to give your ebook for free? I just don't understand your point here.
 
Almost everyone do this. You give away free stuffs (courses, ebooks.. etc) and after some time you send your audience to the advertiser's product

Okay but this is slightly different, in the previous example I promote a product, then give it away for free when the buyer buys something completely different which is not even mentioned in my promotion video.

When he asks for a refund he might say to Clickbank "I was not happy with the free ebook so I don't want the "main product"" because I was never interested in the main product. That might make Clickbank suspicious even when it is legit (and I don't want a suspicious CB).

My friend is selling a product (vendor on CB). I want other people to buy that product so her sales take off.

I don't want to make a promotion video because her product s*cks. :)

Of course I can sell the ebook and give the money to her but she probably wouldn't accept it. I want people to click the link and buy directly from her so she makes sales.
And it doesn't matter that her product is poor quality because they want my ebook.That's it.

Hope this clears things up (and I'm fully aware this is pretty weird).
 
It would make sense if you were selling related products to add value, but weight loss and personal development are too different in my humble opinion. I think people would be put off.

lol you don't get it's hard to explain this. :)

The free ebook is the product that the viewers want to buy. They get it for free. Instead they have to buy another (clickbank) product which they don't want.

Of course they are going to buy it. It doesn't matter for them to pay $20 for the ebook or $20 for the CB product, that's not my concern.

So at the end of the day I am the one who pays the price because I give my ebook away for free while my friend makes $20.

It's called sales incentivising, exactly what advertising bait are doing.

lol I figured it out now. The problem is the buyer can dispute/ask for a refund, then he gets my ebook for free without paying for the other product.
I don''t wanna get screwed so I guess I have to abandon this lovely idea.
