Strange Problem with Hostgator service

Hey all,

Hope to get some answers here. I have hostgator basic plan here in Brazil (the host itself is in USA, but they have a .com.br representative site for sales in my country) and today I found something odd.

I have 1 domain (let's call A, .NET domain) which I have contracted at the same time of the host. This domain contains a WP site in it with ~1 month old.

Later on (15 days, let's call it B, .ORG domain) I just got another domain with them, to use along with the first one in my cPanel. Now I have 2 domains bought from Hostgator and their basic plan, and one cPanel acc.

The thing is I have started some directly very small SB blasts on the site A and gained some ranking. OK, then I just created a livejournal/typepad/blogspot/knol pages with spinned articles and link to my moneysites and started to blast larger blog comments on SB, with links to these pages (2 days ago).

Site A were getting some UV from organic traffic and site B has just 1 optimized article and I have not started any campaign for it yet.

But today I went to AWstats on cpanel to check the reports, and just found 190UV for site B, all of it from today 16/05/2011. Strange. Then I just checked and all this traffic came from the livejournal/typepad/blogspot/knol pages, which no way in hell have any outbound links to site B, double checked already.

Now, in AWstats I have site A (3 words keyword - example - abc.net) and site B wich is showing like one of my main keywords for site B dot ABC.net, which is "not correct" because I want my 3 words keywords dot ORG.

Anyway, both of these domains if entered on my browse lead to the site B, but I have a feeling that something is wrong here. Anyone have a clue?

Tried to call support but they are not working until tomorrow morning.

I haven't heard of this problem before but it's very easy to get in contact with them. Just go to their main landing page and use the live support chat, it's 24 hour support. I have HG too and never had a problem contacting support.
 
There support is good but sometimes you have to hold the tech guys hand to get it done quickly. Your specific problem is a little confusing to me but maybe because Im tired I had problems understanding exactly the issue. I think what you are saying is that your site B is showing traffic coming from an article that only links to site A. If this is the case, and correct me if I am wrong, the first place to start is the obvious. Check the article and make sure you didnt mix your links up. It happens to the best of us. Improper redirects should not be an issue or the redirecting domain would show up as the referrer. The next thing I would check is the awstat files in each domains folder. Make sure there is no mix up (not sure if thats possible). Other than that, could be a server misconfiguration. In any case, rule out the obvious before contacting support. Will save you lots of time.

Is exact what you have written adbot, already called them and now I have an open ticket to be answered in the next days. Hope they solve it soon.

Well i've been with them for a while, from what i read it sounds like you may have messed up some of your links, doesn't sound like a problem with he hosting.
 
I did not told them anything shady, but as I wrote apparently the problem is coming from Hostgator itself.

The help desk guy just said "You are probably messing up the links" them I just gave him the links for my web 2.0 pages and my cpanel username and password, them he admit that it must be a problem, and opened a ticket.
 
Ok they have answered the ticket and I am not satisfied with the answer.
Something like this:

"When an additional domain is created on the actual host/cpanel account, automatically an alias to a subdomain is created too, and this is why the described problem is happening. If you want to have separate statitcs we believe that the ideal would be another hosting plans or a reseller plan.
Another option would be using Google Analytics.
If you have any doubts please revert."

That's it. I do not really understand. Does anyone knows if my backlinks to site A and B will be OK? I mean, there is any chance that SE's are counting my backlinks all to my primary domain, which is domain A? Because if yes, I will certainly change my host.

ahhh HG I was with them for almost a year and everything was fine. Now the hosting is down 3+ times a week. I moved to iweb.com dedi server.
 
I think you have placed the link of site b in SEO Software which u r using.
You tell me HOw this can be done
Artciles with link to site A will be giving traffic to site B

I wouldnt accept this answer. I have used hostgator for 6 or 7 years and have always used addon domains. I have never had this problem. For him to try and sell you more hosting just because he couldnt resolve your issue is pure bullshit. Try and talk to another tech guy, explain your issue and see if you get anywhere with that. Sometimes just talking to a different person can get the problem fixed. Not everyone there knows what they are doing. I have found that more than a few of their tech guys don't know their ass from their elbow and you either have to hold their hand or find someone else that works there who knows what they are doing. Good luck man, hope you get the problem fixed.
 
Thank you all for the support! Are you guys sure that no one else had this problem before? I have just ONE hosting plan, with 2 domains on it. Are you guys doing the same? Or ppl contract one host plan for each domain? My conversation below with HostGator USA:
