Do you actually own the info domain? I don't think it's really spam, because if you own the .info domain, you may be also interested in the much more valuable .com domain. Of course check first if the .com is really already registered.

I have received a ton of these mails. But they are always from another mail address each time i receive them. Cant take them serious when they do that.
    I simply ignore them

I usually get these kind of emails daily. If you own a .info domain name and if somebody has .com they think like you will be interested in purchasing a .com.

This is not spam. They are checking whether you are interested in getting this domain.

This is called domain name tasting. I was taught all about it when I got like 10 of these emails in one month and inquired about it from the domain company I usually use (they're small and deserve a plug: FYNE Domains).

Apparently there are guys like this PDNHQ place who watch for domains to be dropped/deleted. Then they find you.

Little do you know that the domain being offered to you by PDNHQ ISN'T EVEN REGISTERED BY THEM OR ANYONE YET.

By clicking for more information you're letting them know there's potential interest and THEN they register the domain in order to score you.

So the moral of the story is that if you get one of these emails, take it with a smile because you're using them as a kind of free "watch" service to let you know about a domain or two you might have been wondering about anyway.

Then delete the email and go to your preferred domain company and register the domain at the normal domain name rate.

    BAM!

This just made me think of a genius money making method.

    1. Get one of these mails and then register the name they are offering.
    2. Host a simple HTML page on it saying "this domain is for sale, only 49$, contact anotheremail@randomplace.com".
    3. Answer the mail you first received saying that you are VERY interested in buying this domain, even for 100$ as it is a premium domain.

The rest is pretty self explanatory.

    Enjoy!

    That's a good idea, lol.

    Get the email.
Go see if you can register the name using different contact info than the email was sent to.
Then respond to the email, so they'll want to go grab the domain.
Then when they don't respond back again because they can't get the domain. Send them another email saying you really want the domain name and are willing to pay a lot more if $99 isn't enough.
Then put the domain up for sale, and see if they come to buy it up.
Then when they get it tell them that your willing to bid X amount, which is substantially less than they bought the domain for.

    LOL.

They'd probably never really buy the domain though before getting the money up front from who they're selling it to.

If you could pull it off though it would be great to speculate on a domain by preying on a domain speculator. lol.

    :pirate:

edit- LOL, PureMind beat me to it. :cool2:
