strange backlink question

I heard a rumour a few months ago that linking to authority websites can increase SERPs, although I've never tried it.

Personally, I think the reason he has that page is because he's not actually concerned about making money. He's not a competitor. There's no ads on the guy's site - he's just a somebody that's been travelling the world and wants to keep a journal.

Yea, definitely a personal site... should be easy to pass it up in time.

I assume it has age over your head and thats why its beating you?

This site isn't your competitor, right? You're asking why your competitor has a backlink on this site?

This guy has so many links on every page of his site, could it be unintentional? Does the anchor text seem well planned?

Wright, his personal site itself is not a competitor, but when i was looking at the backlinks, there is one that points to the site that is competing with mine...

I find it strange that he's linking to so many other sites with anchor text that i'm wondering if there is a strategy in this method (like Abstroose mencioned)? Seeing here on his Curriculum, this guy know's what he's doing :eek:

And yes, my site is live since 3 months and his more then 10 years :(, i sended him an e-mail and asked if there's a special secret behind this personal page. Will keep you guys updated!

Yes, linking to some high authority sites will help your own site. You don't have to overdo it. Two, three links will do.

Try wikipedia....my link stayed there for a week ago and still present. Yippie :p

Wikipedia, allready did that but 3 of my 4 links where deleted...
