Is there a way to promote my story/get it seen by more people?

Posting them spread out so that it puts you to the front of the story que, if your followers are following a lot of people it can get buried from all the other newer stories.

Putting the location tag thingy so you get featured on the City stories (don't know how it's called or how to get there every time), Post at your account peak hours (when most of your followers are on Instagram)

Get more followers of course. and yes put the location in your story so instagram will pick up your story and put under the city story

Yes, this happens. But I also noticed that with people I interact with (watch stories, like photos) their story comes first, regardless of when they posted it or how many people I follow. So I would say it's also important to have loyal followers who are active towards you.

Create ways to get engagement on your stories.

This is the best way to get more views on your story. When you have a more engaging story, the algorithm gives it higher value. This way it'll be exposed to more eyes. Add interesting polls to your stores, like scales, "ask me questions" box, etc.

Just get creative and you'll get the views you're looking for.
