Based on a recommendation here, I'm giving these guys a test and trying the Backconnect rotating proxies for whois scraping with scrapebox.
They offer a "test month" of 10 threads for a good price, and they let you choose whether to rotate IPs on every request, every 3 minutes, or 15 minutes. I'm running 7 threads for the test, and not trying more because I'm already running into bans. I've tried both USA and Wordwide options, no difference in results.
Questions:
1) About 20 - 40% of the scrape requests return with a banned/blocked IP message. Is this normal, or is something unusual going on? They claim to be using 70,000 IPs, so how can I be getting blocks with just 7 threads?
2) Can I continue with the 10 thread plan? The first non-test plan is $40 for 40 threads, but if it is maxxed out at 7 threads then having (and paying for) 40 is rather pointless. What's odd is that the purchase items says "test/trial month only", but it automatically sets up a recurring charge in PayPal.
