Stopped Using SENuke & Starting PBN - Negative Impact?

Hi guys, i've been having regular SENuke boosts (full monty) to my sites since the start of the year, having a boost every week or two. It helped move the sites up but was quite slow and erratic and I worried about the link quality so as many of you have no doubt seen i've been setting up a PBN instead.
The sites seem to be flickering up a space or two but then down 4-6 spaces rather than moving steadily up as I was hoping with the PBN (only purchased the first PBN domains around 4 weeks ago so it's still early days) - and I'm guessing it's because i've had no SENuke work done to them for 2-3 weeks now so Google is seeing this as a change and addressing it as manipulation...
Does anyone know if this is the case or if it's something else? Or any ideas on how long this transitional period will last? Just finding it frustrating when I'm doing all this work and writing quality articles myself from scratch but not seeing any results proving it to be worthwhile...
I'm not giving up... just trying to see the light at the end of the tunnel and hoped one of you guys were in a similar position or can help shed light on what's going on

How many sites have you got in your PBN now? To be honest, 4 weeks is not long enough to be sure of anything but here's one theory:

Backlinks built by SENuke have a fairly mediocre stick rate so when you run a campaign, you get an initial boost and then as the links get deleted you might experience a drop. Since you have been running more campaigns on a regular basis, it might be that you are replacing lost links and thus seeing a slow increase in rankings. Now that you have stopped the SENuke campaigns, you are no longer replacing the links that are dropping and are thus seeing some downwards movement.

Regardless, I believe a PBN is a better long term plan than SENuke and as you add more domains to yours, you should see gradual improvements. My experience is that you'll eventually get a big boost in rankings but it doesn't happen straight away.

PBN is good choice indeed... SENuke might help to bulk links for your PBN...

Any change can prompt a change in your rankings, whichever route you choose, stick with for a few months at least. If you are consistent, rankings should improve

(as frustrating as it is), i've got 9 sites in my pbn now, i'm not concentrating a lot on pagerank, i've gone more for a 50% split - half the sites are expired domains chosen for relevancy, the other half have very good long term edu links, the highest I have is a pr3 so nothing to shout home about, but all but one are indexed and getting indexed regularly... so it's just a waiting game I guess...
Persistance and web 2.0s to the pbn I think is the next way to go... I'm not going to buy any more domains for a few weeks so I can concentrate more on creating decent content... just hoping I get up one morning and the sites have soared to the top lol, 2 sites have been stuck at #4-6 for their phrases for bloody months, it's driving me bananas!
