    Hi,

Stolen iStock/Shutterstock images that are sometimes used for website can eventually be found by their owner.

What if we use stolen iStock or Shutterstock images (without watermaks) for "print projects" (not website) ?

How can they know (if ever they find out the poster for example) that it's not someone who simply buy it on iStock / Shutterstock ?

I know it's still illegal but just wondering...

    Thanks !

There is always risk, If you use pics on website risk will be lower and if you use it for print work risk will be higher.

Depends entirely on what you plan on doing with the prints. Send them as postcards to Shutterstock HQ and nobody knows what might happen.

If you do that, please hit me up with a PM before hand, since I wish to go over there and see what they would do.

Thanks. What do you mean with "risk will be lower" ?

Do you mean the risk that you get caught is lower ? Or that the damage are lower ?

Something i don't understand. Admit that Shutterstock for example find a print work with one of their pics.
How can they know the pic wasn't buy legally ?

I mean when you buy a pic on Shutterstock is to use it, inter alia, in a print work.
Do Shutterstock will verify each print work they found ? To see if the pic using in it was buy legally ?
    It's hard to believe. I don't understand =)

    Thanks !

The photographers presumably keep track of who bought the photos. IF they find the photos, they ask you for the payment receit. If you don't have it they can take you down based on DMCA or sue for the usage.
