Last week's downturn triggered a few stop loss sales for me, and now I have a few grand to invest in new stocks.

Anyone have any suggestions for good buys right now?

This is probably a better place to ask than a stock market forum where some people are going to be trying to manipulate others.

I hear Coffee stocks are hot atm. If your into shorting stocks and can afford a margin account youll want to check out investorslive.com

As for me, I only have shares in two stocks, KKD and CMSI.

you?

Not recommending specific stocks, you decide that for yourself.

But make sure you BUY LOW, SELL HIGH.

When you buy low, 2 things can happen: either, the stock's low value is justified because it's a crap co, or, the stock's low value is not justified and its true value will shine through in the end, regardless of current sentiment (e.g. external factors such as greek crisis etc)

This is basically how fortunes are made on the stock markets (investing, not in the realm of trading), though it's often very counterintuitive as you find yourself buying when everyone is sh*t talking the stock. but you're from bhw so , think outside the box

Stocks ive had success with in the past:

lvs (las vegas sands - first casino in china i believe + mob influence)
sms (scrap steel giant - they buy companies left and right)
fizz (national beverage corp - faygo/shasta/jones/ripit drinks)
fun (cedar fair - largest amusement park owners aka cedar point)
bwld (buffalo wild wings - what can i say these guys are gold)
f (ford motor company - duh)

can't think of any others at the moment haven't gotten into stocks since my accident, made money even with a recession lol, love doing it I remember I invested in (FUN) and the next day the stock was up 10% pocketed about $400 that day. I was a noob to stockmarket trading never really got into shorting because I don't know much about it. I would just study certain stocks for days and days then when I noticed they were low I would buy and sell once I hit 4% gain or higher.

I remember being a kid telling my parents to invest in google when yahoo dominated the searches and to invest in oil, told them if i was in there position i would have invested every cent i own, oil hit record numbers and google became a stock giant, if only i was born a few years earlier ;/..

PS I cant wait till Facebook hits the stock market that should be fun :)

Yea i heard the best thing to do in the stock market is to buy low and sell high lol im j/p. You can never go wrong with gold or you can try your lucj with some penny stocks.

Yes $BWLD is a very good stock...huge potential.

I also have been waiting for Facebook to hit the market...what do you think its initial offering will be...$50?

Learn Technical Analysis and Candlesticks.
Find your own stock, seriously.

The best tip I can give you is to choose your own stock. It does no good for people to recommend a stock without knowing their entire strategy, whether it aligns with yours (perhaps they are a day trader, or they are looking to hold on for long term, or they like the stock now and in 5 days, they decide it's not growing and then dump it, etc.).
You should decide whether you want to do fundamental analysis, technical analysis or both and then find a site where tools are readily available to help you find a worthwhile stock.

Some other Tips

  • Do some searching and explore what Companys are planning on releasing earnings. Those stocks can jump 10-30% just by beating analysts expectations. Check out http://biz.yahoo.com/research/earncal/today.html to see a giant list of company's about to release earnings, if they top expectations expect them to hit big. On the scheduled day for the release watch premarket trading, if the bid and ask is bigger than the previous close you may want to make an order before 8:30am est to make sure your order is placed asap.

  • Another Tip is watch CNBC. They often talk about companys merging. Read up on yahoo finance's news section also. They also talk about interesting things and even possible mergers. Take ZAGG for example. They bought out ifrogz or what ever, and within a week went from $11 to $15.5x by the end of that week. But you may want to short the following day as you will have lots of people selling out to take make their profits, but the stock will still be drastically higher from the merging.
