Hey everyone,

I have obtained an old domain with some great numbers that was a niche website built in Wordpress.

I have used: https://github.com/hartator/wayback-machine-downloader to recover the website.

Uploaded all files back again to the hosting.

Now I have a website with content without wordpress installed, but there are plenty of broken images, etc... Is there a way to fix as much as possible automatically? Or do i need to go through all the articles and fix one by one?

Thanks

I would advise to user Archivarix for this. They have Wordpress implementation and they cover issues like the one you currently have. It also costs pretty much nothing.

I think I also will need it one time. Really grateful for advise

using wordpress plugins/themes detector(s) worked well for me for many cases,
it will need some twists tho,
but if you can get your hands on the plugins/themes and the previous website content/sources,
you can basically rebuild it

how many pages do you have on the site? Like @Nargil said archivarix is the best solution. However, if I am building a money site I prefer to do a fresh WordPress install and recover articles manually. This is only a viable option if you are building a real site. If it's a PBN then archivarix is the easiest solution.

Thanks for that! Didnt know about that service, will do that, it seems quite easy. Thanks!

Around 100 articles, so making it one by one would be tedious but not hard.

Thanks all

so waybackmachine does not archive 100% of a website in order to save on bandwidth.
like you noticed sometimes image are broken. because waybackmachine skipped that file during their archive process.
if waybackmachine did download those images and you see 100% of them in your local directory structure, then ignore what i wrote above.
archivearix looks like nice plug and play solution. otherwise, like many WP fights, you're left doing it manually and line by line.

If it's a money site, then outsource this and get someone to manually restore the site. Otherwise archivarix is pretty straightforward.

Will archivarix leave a bunch of foot prints? Wonder if google will penalize restored content?

I dont think it will penalize - its the domain content. I have used if for 20+ domains with no problem

But, Archivarix (the direct upload) is just a temporal solution , so that the domain gets the backlinks alive and DA. After that I use Archivarix in diferent way.

When you select "Restore a website", one of the checkboxes is "content-extract". That will give you output so that you can use WP Import to get all the articles directly to Wordpress. Then install "Archivarix External Images Importer" and import images that exist in Archive.net. And you are set.

Hi mate do you mind just expanding upon this a little bit?

So you use the Archivarix "Extract structured content" advanced option, and then use WP Import to bring then the content in to your WP site.

Could you tell me exactly which "WP Import" plugin you are using, and how you are using the file from Archivarix with it?

(The archivarix images plugin is understood.)

Thanks in advance

Hi
Its the import feature in WP Tools settings. You install it and then from archivarix.com you download Articles.zip. You extract it and import content_yoursite.wxr.

This is the worse advice ever....Archivarix has a huge footprint.

You can write an advanced ChatGPT query to fix those images. Let me know if you need some help.
