So recently, I've sold 700 dollars worth of goods on eBay and the buyer decides to file a dispute which I ended up losing.. and also my item.. He's since then removed his account and I can't find a way to contact him.. Now my paypal is around -700 into negative balance, but here's my worry..

However, the name and addresses were CHANGED after registration, so do they have a way to track back the changes in information I've made on the account? Also, can my credit rating be affected only using my real name? (It's pretty common as well)

I've ended up losing the electronics and ebay is asking me to pay the seller's fees. I'm not up to pay another 700 to paypal.

    Thanks for your time guys.

So the information you changed was your real info? If so, then yes they can still track it. If you don't pay it, your credit score will take a hit.

selling online gets tougher and tougher everyday, i had a similar problem and lost about $2000 in Paypal and had to eventually pay them because the call me up like always . I dont know if they can track changed names and hunt you down, good luck to you in whatever you do

Creating stealth accounts is essential for managing risk in your IM business, as the above example shows. You just also have to be prepared for the contingency of a site like eBay throwing your account into the negative zone.

I always withdraw to my bank account when money hits my paypal. I never leave money in there and have never had my money locked in paypal. The customer won the dispute but you still have the $700 right? If the account is -700 that means you took the money out. So you didn't really lose anything. I would ditch the paypal account and not pay the ebay seller fees. Just start up a new stealth account.

They can only report to your credit if you gave them your social security number. That's why they want everyone's social. Sure it's a new government law, but ebay and paypal also use it to send your old unpaid fees to collection agencies.

Hi, thanks for your replies, I've tried editing the post yesterday but it wouldn't let me.. I wasn't very clear..

I've registered the account and verified it with a PREPAID CREDIT CARD, which was also under false information.. I'm living in a country that doesn't have SSN so what happens now?

Make sure you have a real or real-looking bill statement and/or bank statement to verify your stated address, just in case they limit your account and ask for documents to verify your location.

Sorry but this information is not correct. Collection agencies will report it on your credit report if they can match your name and address without a SSN. It is your job to check your credit report and get it removed.
Many horror stories about people not checking their credit reports to find lots of items on the report without giving a SSN.

Yeah they can do it with just the name and address, but everyone's name and address on ebay and paypal is fake. So that doesn't help them. But if they can get your social, they know who you really are and can report you for years and years of unpaid ebay fees. They had been trying to collect socials before this law was even in place. That's because they are trying to collect their unpaid fees.
