Stealing competitors rank

First off, I wasn't sure where to post this.

I'm working for a client who is one of 3 main companies in this niche.

One of the competitors has some pretty decent rankings with only a hand full of backlinks all below 35% LIS
The 2nd competitor is just below the first and has roughly the same backlinks.

Then, there is my client. We've taken note of everything they have done wrong and used that to our advantage with Whitehat SEO, The clients this niche targets are overseas and we have developed a multilingual site to get more exposure in those international regions where we need it.

We're now at the point where we need good backlinks, and I though maybe we could destroy our competitors rankings while gaining our backlinks, Hopefully that will half the time it would take to get to the top if we're pulling them down on the way up.

I'm not sure what the best way is to do this, I was thinking maybe find some high PR/LIS porn sites and give them some backlinks or something.

Not sure what the best way is really which is why I'm asking if anyone has experience in doing such a thing? Is it even possible with Googles current algorithms?

Neg SEO could result in some jail time. You're ruining a business.
Just play it clean and get backlinks yourself. Try to ask the ones that currently backlink to your clients competitors site to switch the link to your clients site.

What do you mean by "we could destroy our competitors rankings while gaining our backlinks"? Are you talking about outranking your competitors, or are you referring to directly harming your competitors? Either way, I hope you're not referring to the latter.

We've already gained a majority of the links that they have. the bigger ones are referrals from blogs or news sites that talk about them. so it's a little hard to get those.

I plan on generating genuine high profile backlinks, this isn't a problem. the problem is that it's just gonna take a little more time. My intention was to somehow bring the competitors down whilst moving forward. Lets say it takes 3 months of work to get to their position genuinely, by linking a bunch of high profile irrelevant links to them, I figured that would make their ranking deteriorate over time so it could take 1.5 months to get to their position rather than 3. If you know what I mean. I think the problem here is that Google will see that this is being done and won't consider those links and it'll be a waste of time at the end of the day, That's why i'm asking, because it's not something I've thought of doing before, But if I can I may aswell because there won't be any breadcrumbs leading to me.

Don't do NegSEO. If you are unlucky the will recognize it was you and maybe send spammy links to your clients website. Wouldn't be that good, right?

Two points:
1. Your negSEO could boost their rankings and thus you could play in their hands.
2. How would you feel and they sent spam to your website? they are not stupid and will see your neg attack... so you might start looking for a lawyer.

Focus on ranking your client's site without doing neg SEO. That way you can focus on what's effective or not.

Dude don't try to do negative SEO. It's a waste of time. Try to make rank to your client's site...

I can't believe an SEO provider is thinking about bringing other sites down inorder to rank his clients'. Dude be competitive and outrank them with quality work.

I was just about to post what you posted! I've seen threads where people ask how to do SEO for the clients that had just hired them and I think to myself, "How did they even convince these clients in the first place without any demonstration of their skill or references from past clients!?".

Some of these people need to start hiring SEO resellers since they apparently have a knack for convincing a large number of people that they know an industry without any experience. I'm not saying that sarcastically either, I would consider working with someone who could do that if it meant an increase in my business.

OP you're describing SEO. Every site that goes up brings another one down, that's just part of the process. Unless you're thinking of negSEO in which case all I gotta say is don't do it.

Negative SEO can work but you will need in large amounts. Although there is a functionality in Google Webmasters which allows you to ignore/report spam backlinks. You will need in large amounts from large number of domains.

Play hard to gain hard OP. We all got mouth to feeds and bills to pay. That that rank #1 is stealing your bread.

Forget about Neg SEO man, just try to get data of your competitors sites, that from where they have got backlinks and build some few very strong backlink to your client's site by guest posting or press release whatever you think ok for your site. Go and search for very high authority sites/blogs to get guest posts or any kind of link from them.. It will work for sure.

Compete like a man dude, build quality backlinks and take your time. You are lucky to have got clients, now work on your seo ethics.
