stealing a known brand domain names?

Are you guys using or making domains like: microsoftgifts.com, amazongiveaways.com, facebooklikes.com, instagramfollowers.com, samsungsweepstakes.com or similar stuff?
Do you consider this safe to do? Almost all cpa offers contain words and even logos/images of amazon,cvs,google play,apple,mc donalds,burger king, beauty/cosmetics brands etc...
Is it any worse and is it risky if you make a domain that contain a single branded word in it's name?

Using trademarked names in your domains is not allowed. You'll get a cease and desist notice at some point.
 
If I want to take revenge on myself, then yeah! I'd go ahead and register one of those names.
 
If you use brand name with .com the domain can be taken by the trademark owner at anytime. Normally first you would get an email from a lawyer asking you to stop using the domain and transfer it to them. If you don’t reply or don’t do anything they will start working with ICANN and you ALWAYS lose.
 
I know that Facebook and Instagram are sending cease and desist letters to people owning domains with their names in it.

If you can make a profit before they start sending these letters you can try it of course.

+1 this is how it works.
It happened to me with a domain name using word "mini" a bmw lawyer sent me a email but i missed that one and then my domain was locked on namecheap and then after the domain was locked a got a letter from WIPO letting me know about a open case. I contacted the BMW lawyer and reached an agreement to transfer the domain to them.

I was so scared when i got the letter :D
 
I work at a major hosting company. Don't do it. To avoid legal trouble the registrar will force you to cancel the domain at first. If you don't comply they will forward your info to the trademark claimer, so they can sue you.

Haha yeah. If you ignore them they will get pissed for sure :D Actually these lawyers never want to waste time in a lawsuit with an random Internet guy, unless you’re super big. So even if you didn’t do anything you wouldn’t get any real trouble. The domain would be transferred anyway.

You're getting UDRP'd.

Don't mess with major international software companies. Literally the worst people on earth to mess with. They have limitless resources and understand tech.
 
You may get a take down notice for the domain.

I had a few domains including trademark names (and for one received a cease and desist letter from a law firm).

What I did is I made the quick bucks then let the domain expire. There is no point in keeping these domains long-term.
 
Back then I had a Linkedin tool, and I named it Linkedin Marketer PRO. The domain was linkedinmarketerpro.com
I got a cease and desist and had to take down everything, now I just won't mess with brand names on domains or in Product name.
 
when i was first starting out i registered a domain with the world yahoo on it, within 24 hours, i shit you not, i was being sent letters to fuck off and transfer control.

This is my experience as well. Do not mess with major tech company domain names.
 
You can own trademarked names - that's completely legal.

You just can't use it. The minute it gets indexed in Google, bigger companies will send you a C&D. They're using Google alerts, but for bigger brands like Cola and Facebook, they actually pay money to certain registrars (*cough*GoDaddy*cough*) so that they get tipped off when a registration contains their keywords/trademark names.

This actually gets fairly complicated. Minor brands, you can, sometimes. Major int'l brands, you will get UDRP'd.

Yes, godaddy is objectively, total trash. Never use them except for domain auctions.
