Hello everyone,

I was referred here by a random dude I spoke with at a mechanic shop while waiting to get my car fixed as was he. I have been at a dead end job for about 3 years since finishing college. For the past year I have been trying to find ways to start my own business. I want to avoid credit and didn't end up very far since most businesses required 20-100k investment.

I never believed in E-commerce until about a month ago, when I watched a few videos of a group of 4 guys (apparently made millions themselves) teaching how selling online through amazon and shopify can be very lucrative, provided you put the time and effort. The problem ends up being these guys have ask us to join the website for free, but the devil is in the details. I pretty much need to buy a workshop to learn the techniques that are needed to actually succeed.

I don't have a computer related background but I love to research, and browsing this website for the last couple of days seems like a good place to start.

Welcome IMthirsty, you sound like a person who knows what hes doing already. There is allot of reading to be done that can teach you valuable knowledge you need to attain your goal. A mix of journey threads and the making money section along with lots of time will get you to where you want to be :)

Amazon is a waste of time unless you have the perfect niche product that not sold much yet but even then Amazon could take you over with its own listings in that item once they see you banking and crush you. Do your research. I wouldn't waste 5 seconds on Amazon unless I had a golden niche idea, and even then I'd know its only temporary.

So before talking to some random dude and watching these videos last month you didn't believe in the worlds largest economy and just thought all the multimillion dollar online retailers have just been pretending for the last 25 years?

Ecommerce has existed since before you were born, sheesh.

One guy's name is Harun Rashid and one's name is Ridwan Mahmood who apparently has a fancy software called "profit phoenix" that can help with many things including nailing down what products to launch, but seems too good to be true

Hey random dude,
If I were to rephrase my comment I would say" due to the flood of spam I have been seeing for several years about get rich quick schemes, never looked into it, if it actually has any merit".

Never heard of these two but hell, most of these eCommerce gurus look really shady. Of course, their main goal is to get you into their closed circle where you will pay huge amounts for them to teach you, they are always trying to sell something.

How I learned the most was just dropshipping (look into the term if you don't know what it means) and the Facebook groups built around it. I've interacted with some really successful people and you could see how every single member (who doesn't give up) slowly develops a business. Even though the "guru" Dan Dasilva who's running the group is hella shady to me, the people there are really helpful. The group is called Shopify Mastery - 6 Figures Shopify Group.

Just be sure those guys make money by selling their bullshit, they've never actually made much off the info they sell you.
 
Don't give money to gurus.

Keep your money in your pocket.

Use a small % of that money to set up a shitty store. Work your ass off on the store and see what goes wrong (it will).

Take your experience from that failed store and try to make a better one using what you learned not to do.

Rinse and repeat this over and over until you get it right.

You just saved a bucket of money that you almost got conned into handing over, and if you stick to this there is a small chance that you will figure it out.

My concern about drop shipping is 2 part;
1- Shipping times are ridiculous, people get stuff within 2-3 days nowadays.
2- profit margin is much less. So I wonder if somehow I could buy wholesale and somehow get it shipped from a third party because shipping myself to customers would cost a lot I would think.
