I dont know if its only me but getting the stat page on statpress takes too long to load, (a few second). and when that happens basically my hold sites doesnt load until that statpress page finishes loading. What else can i use besides statpress, google analytics, and awstats?

Jetpack by WordPress (now they have stats built-in)

I'm using statcounter(free version) for almost all my sites.

this looks really good, its free right?

Yes, Piwik is free. It's a little tricky to install though; you have to upload a .rar file to your server, get into the MySQL databases and create permissions, etc. But I'm a big dummy when it comes to technical computer stuff (beyond making a website) and I could do it, so anyone should be able to. :p

I use clicky. It's commercial product so I dont need tweeking it like piwik or owa. Tried piwik but it doesn't work out of box, needs fixes to properly recognize IPs, it can't recognize search bots,... Don't have time or desire to deal with it. And google anal.itics is spyware.

I am using Piwik on my sites and its really the best in the free options available.

Maybe there is another alternative.

OpenWebAnalytics is also a free software.

It runs like Piwik on your own server.
But it needs a lot of cpu-ressources!
During our first test-setup, the cpu load (2 cores) was always over 90%.
Now with 4 cores it runs well.

We are using two setups to track different online-shops and a typo3 instance.
The typo3 instance has around 60.000 unique visitors per day (this setup had this amazing cpu load).

What I really love is the tracker of mouse oriented events (DomStream).
A great chance to optimize your landingpages.

You can get more information on the subdomains wiki and demo on OpenWebAnalytics.

But be carefull, it is still under developement.

I'm sorry, but I couldn't insert the direct links to page, wiki, and demo.
