Hey all
I've been reading the posts on this forum with interest trying to figure out how to get the most out of my WP site and I'm still a little confused so it would be great if someone could give a a few pointers.

I've set up my WP site so that my homepage is a static page because I don't want a 'blog' as such, but a website. I know what cool plugins WP has so I want to take advantage of these.

Here's my issue/confusion though -I also use a paid for service to generate articles for me that backlink to my WP site. I have a plugin that is supposed to automatically include all these articles somewhere on my site but I just cannot figure out how to even begin to implement this? Do I need to set up a 'Post' that is dedicated to it or another page? ..and then how does this benefit me from an SEO point of view?

I realize this is a little vague because I really don't know what I'm doing with this, so please ask any questions and I'll be happy to give more answers.

what plugin do you use for automated posting of articles?

regarding SEO point of view, nothing really hurts and you need not worry as such about duplicate content too, in the initial stages of google indexing.

Hi. I thought you might ask that but was kind of hoping you wouldn't as you'll probably say go ask them. Trouble is their support tutorial isn't that great because I think it assumes that you have a grasp of 'Blogging' to start with. Anyhow to answer your question I use a company called Unique Article Wizard and it's their plugin called UAW_wordpress.

I've installed the plugin successfully, what I'm just trying to figure out is where abouts on my site these articles are supposed to appear. As it's a static site I don't really want a whole load of repetitive articles scattered around the place, but maybe because I've created it as a 'static site' and not a 'blog' then that's the trade off. ( see I really am confused:D)

What I think I'm trying to achieve is have a mix of the two, so that somewhere tucked away is a s**t load of relevant content helping with SEO but almost none visible to site visitors. Does this make any sense?:o

Hi. I thought you might ask that but was kind of hoping you wouldn't

well, i thought the same coz i used this UAW plugin before;

In Your Wordpress Admin Panel, Go to Settings >> UAW Control Panel and select the appropriate categories for which you want to receive articles.

You have full control over the categories for which you do or don't receive articles. You can then further fine tune this by filtering out articles by keywords

the email you enter in the UAW plugin section in wordpress has to match the email that you entered on their website

btw, is this working with wp3. i thought it's working only upto v2.8

Hey that's great that you are familiar with the plugin and you're quite right, they are advising not to upgrade to WP V3 yet until they have figured out what to do.

So OK I'm in my admin and can see the options you are talking about. This is where I think I'm just not getting it. I don't really understand the whole category/post/page thing so please forgive my ignorance. Let me get this straight. Here's what I understand so far:
1) I create a category erm...
2)
3)
4)

hehe.. please could you fill in the blanks.

wait. i am sending you the screenshot. did you use the update and test in uaw panel

Skindu, your a top man! Many t.h.a.n.k.s for taking the trouble to send me the images...you know what, I'm set up exactly like that from what I can see? But when I click update and test and then 'see it' I just go to my website homepage and not the test page? So maybe I'm set up wrong somewhere in WP. Any ideas.

well, now i understand that you've not set up the remote email settings (Post-via-email) in wp admin >> settings >> writing

if you're using gmail.com for uaw publishing

pop.gmail.com port:995 username: yourgmail password: password for yourgmail

hope this will solve your uaw problems.
