Static Page for WP

When creating a static page for wordpress does this page actual stay on the first page of your blog all the time? or does it just sit there in the background for the search engines?

It becomes your root page so anyone visiting xxx.yyy.zzz.com will always see that page. If you want people to visit the Blog part of your Website you have to specify a different page for your Blog and show a link to that page in your navigation.

I actually wrote an article.. set it as the static page of the wp blog.. but when I go to the home page it looks normal with all my posts.. that static page does not come up on the home page. Does it show up at static to the search engines? sorry trying to figure this out.. my site is a celebrity blog.. I post minimum 5 per day..
