Static homepage or latest posts ?

Hello

Iv been trying to decide whether i should change my site up a bit, currently i have a static home page for top 3 products, it looks a bit spammy / old type of sites, whereas the latest posts looks a lot more cleaner an laid out better.
And TBH the KW that im trying to rank my homepage on is way down the list on serp. so having the the homepage is not really benefiting me.


my question is.. Is it better to have a latest posts page or a static page for google ranking / SEO?

My understanding is if my SEO is good for all the other articles then the site should get traffic regardless.

Thoughts?
I know this is a long running debate static vs posts home page, just trying to get some ideas.

Swap one static product in and out, and wait a couple of months. Track the pages extensively, and maybe even build a nice backlink or two to the new page.
Depending on what happens next, would influence about wether google moves your site, and if you should take the risk, to switch to completely refreshing posts, but the same again you try for a couple of months and track.

I will swap it out and give it a try, the thing is my internal posts are all ranking , whereas my homepage for XX keyword is not, it could be the page is not up to googles standards.

It might also be the lay of the land at first for you, I have some sites that I had to just settle for ranking for a particular keyword for a page on the site, rather than the main keyword you want. you sometimes have to settle for that, while you wait a longer period of time to either up your content &/or backlinks. Just make your site a must-watch-see website for that niche, and you'll be sure to stand out compared to others.

Optimized Static Page is better

I prefer to have a static page rather than the latest post because it gives me a hell of a lot more room to decide what articles I want to show on the homepage. This way, I can also plan and optimize internal linking far better and more effectively.

In my opinion it also depends on the factor whether it is an information site or a site with products to sell.
For informational sites I have always been for the 'latest post' on the homepage.
