Static frontpage wordpress

If you want to make an autoblog, is it useful to make a static frontpage or is it not necessary.

It doesn't really matter, most of your search results will be from searches hitting your deep pages.. ie. yoursite.com/omg-is-jacko-really-ded.php you will only really get yoursite.com hits from people that think your site is good & have bookmarked it or type in the domain name.

what do you think to having a static, keyword rich article on the main page?

Is this the best way to do things?
