Stategy needed for purchasing domain from Adsense webmaster

There's a domain I would like to use for a WH Business.

Problem is, the guy who presently has the domain is using it for Adsense PPC.

I know everything works on money, any ideas on how to offer him a sensible amount based on what he is problably earning?

Is there a formula like:

# of searches X ppc

or something?

No. There is no way to calculate his Click-through-rate, effective CPM or even the ads that show up on his website and their worth. Since this is also based on the visitor's past browsing history. Add to that the fact the webmaster gets paid out more per click the longer a clicking visitor has been on his website, and you're left with an impossible equation.

Methinks all you can do is ask him what he's earning and what he wants for it.

I have a feeling when I ask him, he'll give me a bogus BS number.

I was hoping to know more than he does so he wouldn't try to do that.
 
Try this for starters as you can back the formula up with numbers:

Google Keyword Searches x 40% (max number of clicks for 1st place listing) x .1 (10% click thru rate on ads) x CPC / 2 (figuring you get half of a CPC) x 12 (months going forward revenue you are buying him out of)

so 20,000 searches at 1.80 click would be approx. $8,650

anyone want to chip in, this is just an idea

Also, this would be for a ranking .com, I would go less for a .net / .org
 
Doubt hell have a 10% ctr maybe 5%, atleast you should base your offer on minimum rather than maximum he possibly makes :P no need to give away money.
 
good points, according to site explorer, he has ZERO links. This doesn't surprise me, I've noticed quite a few sites filled with PPC with ZERO Links.

According to keyword tool, there is over 1 million searches last month.

I can only guess, why do any backlink when there are this many searches?
 
Who sais those searches are really bringing him any traffic? I don't know how you calculated this so it's a genuine question.

Anyway, if he does give you a number that's over the top (or BS as you put it) just offer him 75% of what you are willing to pay as a max. He will then probably make you an offer back, and then you can make your final 100% offer, if you get what I'm saying. Be assertive and really get it in his thick little head that you're not willing to pay any more than that.

If he doesn't accept it, just move on. Sorry if this tip is not what you were looking for but there really is no way to calculate adsense earnings of someone else. If you have a functioning brain you can tell if he's just making up a high number based in the amount of searches so just go from there.

Off hand, if anyone could guess, what do you thnk he makes?

I know no one knows for sure, but a guess.

As an example, someone with a neighborhood lemonade stand. On a sunny day, 5 dollars, on a cloudy day, 2 dollars if that. Either way, I know they are not making more than $10.

I'm figuring he will be inflating his number, so I would like to chop him off at his knees and let him know he can't BS me.
 
The guy came back with 10k, you can tell that's an off the cuff number.

So I added a modifer to what I was looking for, $7.49 at GoDaddy.

Now he can pllay his hand with someone else, maybe I can even get his traffic.

Godaddy auctions rule - I got a PR3 8 letters (it makes some kind of sense) with linkbacks from PRWeb and iTunes store for $10 + some other irrelevant amount. Indexing like a bitch.

Just a thought. The next time you find yourself in a situation of negotiating the buying price of domain, an idea might be to pretend to be some hot chick that wants to buy. Yes ewhore domaining!

You could set up a fake profile on Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin etc, upload a picture of a hot chick, and if you know the location of the registrant, you could pretend to live near or in the same town as them.

Got the idea having had someone tried to ewhore me on messenger today. Maybe someone from this forum lol.

Guys like to think with their dicks. In fact, my penis is thinking it needs to go to the toilet right now. It's probably right. Clever dick.
