I've been thinking about doing this for quite sometime. Basically, i was thinking of doing something like the Hoodia pills. I can buy the substance in bulk, and create the pills at home and bottle them up. You do the free trial thing where they pay $6.95 and then bill them later on in like 14 days for like $80. The pills and bottles would cost you like $100 to make like 30-40 bottles. So quite a big ROI.

Can anyone comment on the legal/doability of the method? How hard would it be to do it in the US? Do you have to get approval from the FDA?

most of these pills are not regulated by the FDA as far as i know. not sure you would go about setting it all up, but with the right operation, im sure it could be very profitable if done right.

FDA only deals with supplements if there are multiple complaints. They don't approve or test effectiveness at all.

I am a personal trainer and have wanted to do something like this for a while (well, similar anyway).

The FDA doesn't tend deal with dietary supplements. You'll need a disclaimer on the package though, stating this.

You'd also need to incorporate, it's a no brainier in this business.

The final thing is that people are looking for NEW supplements. Doing something with Hoodia would be a hard sale. No matter how good your initial offer is.

I've got a few "formulas" I've researched and created, that are 100% original, but I just don't have the start-up capital or resources. I'll just keep making them in my kitchen until I do!

If you are 100% serious about this, PM me, I would love to at least stay updated.

You could like do this. You like could also like find like a private brand like packager that would like put like your labe like on like a product that like had your like private like blend tablets. This way you would like have the like product without like having to like handling it like yourself.

you like could call it "Like Hoodia!"

Do you have a LIKE Disease?

IMO I would avoid the Acai-Hoodia bandwagon and also the scammy-like scheme of FREE TRIAL and then rebill. Better make your own product. Get the pills from Asia, bottle and rebrand it. There are alot of these slimming pills that are really effective and can give you LONG term business and avoid the FDA complaints and ripoffreport. Buy some video testimonials and before and after photos and start selling.

Check out Creatine; you can buy massive amounts of pure powder, put em in capsules and sell em for 10x the price you bought it for.

Before you get into this, make sure you know 100% about your supplier. You wouldn't want to be responsible for someone getting ill for digesting ground up drywall would you. Have you seen the video, "the fake trade"? That shit is bananas, fake medicines in American and European pharmacies. Just saying, be careful and know what you are giving people, if its dirty ass cheap, its probably dirty ass ingredients.

Manufacturers are going to laugh at you if you try to do an initial order of $100.
Most supplement manufacturers have minimum orders of 50,000+ pills (about 500-1500 bottles, depending on quantity in each)

Regarding FDA compliance, you need to list all of the ingredients, along with a few other things, which the manufacturer usually handles for you (if they are also printing your labels).

Moral of the story: Unless you have a few grand to spare and have a very unique approach to marketing them (this is a very crowded market), stick to promoting them as an affiliate.

Side note: the FDA usually doesn't mess with dietary supplements, but if you make really outlandish claims like 'lose 100 pounds in 3 days' and have no clinical studies to back it up, they're gonna hit you hard

I think capusle filling and packaging operations can be outsourced. I am planning to get into this busines in next 3 months. I already have customers willing to buy my herbal products (India based) in bulk for slimming and sexual health.

I have reliable suppliers of the ingredients and also the formulae - I am now looking for outsourcing the capsule filling and packaging operations. If anyone is interested, just PM me.

in my opinion, just make sure you cover your asses from any legal complications. it can be disastrous if your buyer had any complication from consuming your product and sue you. so better be safe.
