Starting PPC with Facebook Ads

OK Since I've been doing a lot of this and spent over $100,000 USD on FB last month at almost 200% ROI, I think what I have to say is valid and helpful. If somebody tells you 'Facebook Ads don't work' it means one of two things: 1) They're banking like pirates and want as many people far from the loot as possible or 2) They got into it without knowing what they were doing and lost out.

Even though this thread is old, the recent activity shows that there are folks still trying to get into this.

(dear mods: I think it's time for a facebook-specific subforum.)

My answers to the OP questions today (because stuff changes all the time) would be:

1. What tools do I need to create successful campaigns (a cloaker, a tracker... etc.)?

- Your own website with highly-converting editorial content that totally pimps the product (an Advertorial) with links to your affiliate CPA offer, a 'safe' page to show facebook that doesn't violate any of their terms, and a cloaker that can filter Facebook's IPs once your campaign starts running so it'll last longer. You definitely need your own conversion tracking platform, there are many, but it can be Prosper202 (free: http://prosper.tracking202.com/apps/) to keep your costs down.

2. I guess Facebook accounts are a problem. Do I need private proxies, a VPN maybe?

- Huge problem, they get shut down constantly. All caution possible is necessary. Try all of them (VPN, Private Proxies, etc). The IP you login from is a big deal, but the account will live longer if you always use the same IP, and if the billing information you enter matches the GEO location of your IP. So if you're in the state of New York, get a NY private proxy just for one account and try to always use that IP or at least the same C-Class IP when accessing the account. Clean your cookies when switching between accounts, etc.

3. Do I need multiple credit cards?

- If you plan to run multiple accounts at once, yes. If not, only once your card gets blacklisted by Facebook, which they do indeed do. It's a major pain to try to get Facebook to reverse a suspended payment method. The good thing if you're operating as a company is that you can usually obtain multiple cards from the same account with different names & numbers.

I would not suggest anyone start with only $500 on FB if it's there first experience with paid traffic or internet marketing. I started with FB as my first source back in 2009 and was about $1500 in before I found something with a positive ROI. This was BEFORE they would ban your account for next to nothing. Now you will likely end up spending a few hundred and when you are just starting to get a feel will likely lose the account.
