I'm new to making money online. I really want to give it a shot as I recently fell on hard times. I'm pretty tech savvy. I ran a computer repair business for 5 year. I can build websites. Pretty good with marketing.

The question is where would you start? So many options...

I live in Michigan and I'd love to chat with some Michiganders;).

Just pick a method from this section and try to use it. Some methods I see seems old but with the right thinking you can hash it into a better method.

IM for a newbie can be overwhelming, but it's a good way to separate people who really want to make it from people who thinks there is easy money to be made.

Pick something that your existing skills or experiences can lend to. E.g freelance web designer, a computer repair website/YouTube channel etc.
 
What cash is easy cash? At least starting out it isint. I know that. Thanks Golonzo for the youtube channel idea!
 
No such thing as easy cash! If you want to make it in IM, you have to put in the effort.

I suggest reading up on everything here and take in advice and information from all members. There are great people here willing to help and great content. Browse around and good luck buddy!
 
Why don't you try to dominate the computer repair niche by promoting your site on adwords, facebook and bing ads?
 
K thanks guys, I'm no longer with that computer repair company. But I'm thinking of starting a new one.
 
Hey fellow Michigander!

I would suggest you decide if you want long term or short term gain. Either way, taking something on will get your feet wet quick.

As others have said, learn to exploit your skill set. No matter what project you take on, if your good at something, do it, if bad, someone else will do it better.

I lived in Metro Detroit almost my whole life. My buddy is still there now doing web design and he relies only on word of mouth from his clients. He picks jobs at his own free will there seems to be plenty to go around. I would stick with something you know first; you mentioned you could build websites - if you mean web design by that then I would start there.

Try to package it with local SEO as well at least where I am from we could get anybody on top of local search with very little work.
 
You know how to build sites, build a site dedicated to selling a product and learn SEO here.

I'm in Michigander as well and welcome. I have been at this online game since '99...it changes all the time but once you get the hang of it you'll be fine. I suggest you do the computer repair on the side because I know people around here always need some work done. Like what was mentioned earlier local SEO can really get you going depending on where you live...

I think you should create your own product and market that on things you know like repair or whatever. The money to me is in creating products and training people how to do things online.

I like to market a ton of affiliate offers of known companies or products too...I personally like Commission Junction (CJ) and higher paying affiliate offers as well. I have over 3k products I promote which my highest can payout $30k on a sell. So yeah, just read the info on BW and get started on something right away don't let one day go by that you aren't doing something and you'll be fine.
