I’ve been looking into selling on eBay but there’s a lot to figure out products, fees, shipping, etc. Trying not to overcomplicate it. What helped you when you first started?

That’s actually a smart way to start, makes it a lot less risky but I didn’t think about using stuff I already have. The fees part is helpful too, I can see how that catches people off guard.Start with things you already own and want to get rid of. Zero risk, you learn the platform without spending money and you figure out how shipping and fees actually work in practice.
Once you're comfortable look into retail arbitrage, clearance sections at Walmart or Target. Unglamorous but it works for learning what sells.
Fees catch most beginners off guard, factor in 13-15% total between eBay and PayPal before pricing anything.
What category are you thinking?
Appreciate the detailed advice, a lot to take in here, I like the idea of starting with stuff I already have just to understand the process first. Thanks for sharingI was about to log out when i stumbled across this thread.
- on which location of ebay are you selling or do you intend to sell?
- secondly, i know it sound so unprofessional to ask about the niche. But, anybody requesting for help should to open-minded when it comes to sharing specific info's
Whichever, i suggest you go into bleeding niches. Item's,products, services that can trigger people to pull out their wallet without procrastination once they land on your listing.
Avoid stagnant niche!

Back to the question;
These are my suggestions;
pls donot focus on the fee's (ebay,paypal..) i know this contradicts most of the online courses. Donot neglect it either. Just be conscious of what you are doing ok?
=========================
Ebay/paypal listing fee's and billing pattern was meant to scare away sellers without define goals
=========================
Now, here is the best/juicy part. When selling on eBay, buyers pay the bills not the seller. Pls be able to play this aspect of the game to work in your favor.
I usually suggest listing of one or more **ghost products** to cover up the listing fee's
Note; by ghost products, i mean products that cost you nothing but your customers might be willing to buy such item.
Also, i've read comments from other members. Pls start up with garbage, stuff lying around within your home so, that you gets stronger and your eyes gets trained and aligned to see and understand the cash-flow chain before any investment .
Hope this tips motivate and ignite your heart with flame for you to get started.
Remember, there is always someone in this community to help you starts rolling whenever you get stuck.
Goodluck
