Starting off Onsite SEO

Hi Guys,

What do SEO methods do you do onsite when you first build a site. What are your main plugins and what are your best practices you would advice to people who are building new sites

On site, you mentioned plugins... use SEO Platinum so you can easily provide a custom Meta Title & Description for each individual web page and post.

Make sure each URL is SEO friendly. (Customize your permalink structure and go for longer titles, think 8+ words.)

Use anchor text when linking between pages for user friendly navigation. Obviously you want to make sure the content on each page and post or article has optimal keyword placement (don't worry so much about density unless it is too high to read naturally, that's the best test) but more importantly make sure each page/article has engaging content that will keep readers interested. A higher user engagement is something search engines reward too.

For your on-site, I would start by building a page around each targeted keyword that you have. Avoid optimizing pages with keywords that have nothing to do with the keyword. For example a contact us page with nothing but a form and a few sentences should probably be left alone.

You will want to include these keywords in the content on your website as well as the architecture of the website (meta tags, alt tags, and titles). Choose keywords that are important to the product or service you are marketing and build a page around each one. There are certain characteristics as to how you do this such as keyword density in website copy and the number of relevant keywords you should include in meta tags.

I dont mean to be rude, although i am the one seeking for advise. I clearly stated on-site SEO. You're not helping you do not post what is intended. Forums like this are designed to help people (helped me alot), not increase post counts.:smashfrea

I really appreciate the recent comments. Just to inform you guys im not a newbie neither am i an expert. I would like to know what are the main plugins that can really help boost your on site

Make sure to make your keyword density around 1 - 2%, put your keyword in title and meta description, use it in h1 tags.
