Hey !
My first post on BHW.

I was in the internet business 2 years ago.
But now, a lot of things have changed.

This is why I would like some informations
about a new business that I'm starting.

The question:

I currently have one blog (magazine) and one big project (social website).

The magazine have a keyword domain naime : " lewebmagazine" -> Le Web Magazine (French magazine).
The social project is really amazing but i think that I'll never finish it ... The name is : Eanvy. (Domain : "eanvy").

So, i have just started the magazine, but I really don't like the domain name.
Eanvy is registered since one year, and ranked (Presse, backlinks, etc..).
But Eanvy is only a Comming Soon page for the moment ....

So, I would like to start my new magazine with the name Eanvy (and not Le Web Magazine).
The current problem with my current magazine is that he is only concerning Web News ..
I think the subject is too small, and I can't post all interesting news ...
(news that will rank my magazine up and get trageted traffic, ex: "Windows 10 in November in Windows 7").

That's why I would like to Start the magazine with the name Eanvy, and use sub-domains for each big category.
Ex : "web" / "business" / "buzz"
So I will only start with web, business and buzz. And i'll add other category in the future.

My question is : What is the best solution ? Keep "Le Web Magazine" or Use "Eanvy" with subdomains ?

I hope you will understand me (I'm french) ...
Thank's in advance ! Love. :)

It's not for advetising, it's just for be sure that i'll make the good choise ..
It's juste for an advice, not for advertising.

I only have french website, i think it's not the place to advertise ..
Sorry if you were thinking that.

Salut,
subdomains are a bad idea. every subdomain counts as an own domain for google. this way you have to build up authority for each subdomain.

cool, just registered lewebmagazine.fr (jk)

Ahah !

Thank you, so i'll keep my magazine like this. :)

Yeah sub domains can cause duplication. So avoid making sub domains.

Do a Google for 'matt cutts wordpress seo', a couple of years ago Matt Cutts from Google's Web Spam team did a presentation at a Wordpress conference. He answers a lot of questions about site/link structure. One was about subdomains and url/path length.

I'd recommend you do /web /business /buzz etc. as top level parts of the path. If you use something like Wordpress as your platform for the magazine this sort of permalink structure is trivial to setup.

Ok thank you man, i'll definitely avoid this method.
