I've been absorbing a lot of information on this site for the last couple of months and I feel like I'm ready to dive in and start applying some of the things I've learnt around here.

I'm going to build a site and record in this thread the steps I'm taking and then my progress as I go. My hope is that more experienced people will come in and critique my approach and give me feedback and tell me where I can improve.

I also hope it can help some novices like myself with some really basic information.

My job is a software developer and I'm someone who likes to have a good understanding of what I'm doing so I'm going to try something, understand it properly then add something else to the mix gradually. I want to make sure I really understand what I'm doing and why.

Ok, so here's my plan to get things rolling.

I've been reading a lot about Market Samurai and I've been studying keyword research. I'm going to research a suitable niche using some of the recommended values in here and in the Market Samurai tutorial vids.

Once I've decided on my niche I'm going to buy the domain, hopefully EMD and setup a wordpress site there. I'll then write a couple of 500 word articles based on keywords and add them to the site.

Next step is I'm going to learn how to use Scrapebox properly and create a heap of backlinks and blog comments. I'm a bit unsure about this step because I read that it's not good to blast links for my main site, but instead to blast secondary sites so that my main site doesn't get penalised by Google.

So I still need to understand what kind of secondary sites I need to create. I could create another blog, spin the articles and put them up on that site with links to my main site. My knowledge here is a bit vague so hopefully by the time I get to this step I'll have a clearer picture in my mind about what I'm going to do.

I'm not planning to monetize the site initially as my main motivation is to learn and understand the process and tweak my methods. If I can get a site to the first search result in Google for my keywords I'll be really happy... actually even on the first page would be great.

If anybody has any recommendations for me I'd love to hear it, otherwise I'll keep making progress posts in this thread.

Wish you good luck on your journey.

Just a suggestion about ScrapeBox.Don't blast your little new site with tons of Scrapebox comments.

    thanks.

yeah I'm still not sure about Scrapebox.. whether to wait till the site is a few months old, or to only blast sites which reference my main site, or to blast in low numbers or to just go hard on the main site.

I guess I'll figure some of these out by experience.
