In order to start my adventure I need to find myself a hosting, I was checking other hosts and topics here on BHW and I am thinking about having my sites hosted on Hostwinds because many members recommended them. Right now I am not sure what hosting plan should I purchase since I am thinking about running one authority blog and several niche sites. Shared hosting seems fine, vps sounds good but I really don't want to do anything with Linux right now, because then I'd spend too much time on configuring stuffs.

Also, I am doubts about next thing:

For my Authority website I am 100% sure that I'll be using Wordpress (need to find a proper theme, I'm hard to satisfy lol).
But for my niche sites I am still thinking should I use Wordpress or code and design my own websites - it will take me some time because I am a beginner but I don't know how many Wordpress sites the Shared hosting can handle.

Thanks for your help!

I'm not sure what your budget is, however if you can afford it you can look into purchasing a managed VPS. You will be paying a little more, however your website will take care of the Linux configuration, software installation, ect all for you. The only thing you would have to do is setup and run your websites.

I am low on budget, so I don't want to spend everything at the beginning. It's good to know that they are taking care of those stuffs, it will consume me much less time if I get VPS from them. Thanks for assistance.

If you are just starting out with a low budget, grab yourself a reseller acount with a cPanel host. That way if things take off and you go to a VPS you can easily (I mean a few clicks) move your accounts.

As for hosting - get reviews on anyone you are looking at and not just from forums. Google the hostname with review as a keyword, that will bring you a better range of reviews.

I do have some questions, so if anyone could answer them it would be great:

When I buy a domain, should I also buy an option to hide my details, I heard that it costs more
In Privacy Policy on my Niche site, should I include my RL information

It's more of a personal choice if you'd like to hide your real life information. However, https://www.namecheap.com offers one free year of Whois protection with new domain registrations. After the first year I believe it costs around $3 to renew it for another year.

Yeah, GoDaddy is 9.00 a year I believe.

Will depend on a couple of things really - like others have said, its up to you but the other point to think about is some people will see domain privacy as a red flag and not buy from you.

Easiest thing to do is buy a mailing address and use that instead :)

I don't think that it will be red flag because I will be personal in the blogs (atleast the one I'm planning to start soon) and the privacy thing will be just for my protection. Thank you guys once again. :)

Ah sorry - got my wires crossed with a different thread. Personal sites, protect all the way :)

No problems. :P

All the domains I've been checking have PR 0, will that be a problem for me? Also, should I use for domain long tail keyword or something that includes one keyword + extension (example hxxp://shoppingpath)
