Starting in IM - Tips Or Suggestions

Hello all, I have been a forum lurker for a while. I recently created two sites and just added adsense the other day. I am curious if anyone can provide some tips to progress.

I know normally suggested not to post links to your sites, however how can I get help without doing so lol.

My two sites are survival-and-prepper.com and modifiedar.com

I just started the ar site last week. I have semi been following the income school philosophy though wondering about that. Also I initially chose the theme for the prepper site to make it look good. I have sense noticed it slows things down and only looks great on a desktop but is slow/plain on mobile.

I know you get better results here by helping others, however I just started online stuff in February so its a learning process, I have learned a bit about AWS its free services for a year and setting up multisite on that platform if i can help anyone with that info.

1. I'm not sure why, but adding https:// in front of your URL gives me a security warning (that the connection is not secure). Maybe try to fix that as in 2020, pretty much every website uses https.

2. Your favicon still shows the WordPress logo. Maybe customize it?

3. I don't know if it's a good idea to have a picture of your whole family on there. Maybe just you would be enough? I don't know; it's just a thought.

4. Your content does flow, but it could use some polishing.

But these are not the things that will actively make you money. If you decided to go with AdSense, you'll need traffic. A lot of it. So you need to have a plan for that. How do you intend to get eyeballs on your web pages (and ads)? Social media? SEO? PPC?

Your niches seem to be a "hobby" thing, so maybe social media will do? Posting cool things on groups and Facebook pages. Maybe having a quiz section to get people to visit multiple pages on your website.

I'm not an AdSense expert. The above are literally my 2 cents lol.

Hey man! I am a newbie in the IM business but Ive been writing for about 5 years now. Saw your sites and they're nice as F!

Just wondering becuase I tried to see and check on BlueHost and it asked me to spend around $200 upfront for domain + hosting.. whereas in wordpress it's only charging me for about $20 for the first year.

Literally lost and I need help about how much money I need to start my own blog :(
 
My hopes was traffic through SEO. As for adsense I just chose that for starting out, I have attempted to do more affiliate type links etc for direct items. Some small hints at click bank etc.

I was semi thinking the same for the picture and will get that replaced soon. I have been trying to tune my content, I feel I can see a difference in the first posts to my latest posts. I just made a backup and trying different themes now to see if I can get a decent theme that is a bit faster.


To Maat I had same issue. To be honest I have not spent a penny yet. I did swag bucks surveys until I had enough points for a $25.00 PayPal. Then bought both domains from there. Signed up for AWS get a year free to try their stuff. Launched an elastic beanstalk for permanent ip, tied it to a EC2 instance i can use for a year free then installed WordPress multisite through that.

Once that was done, signed up with shareasale, clickbank, and Amazon, most recently adsense. Using social media i have only hit between 1000 and 1700 visitors a month with a total rev of about $50 in 3 months. (Very first post was middle of march)
 
oh yea muscle I do have a ssl certificate for it, just have to be at home to get it installed (and figure out how) lol, I can only access server side from there.

Same issue with Famicom, yet to figure that part out, I was focused on trying to get 30 posts done, now I am trying to refine things, polish posts, and increase speed etc. Then back to content. This is my first ever attempt so I half expect to fail, though it won't be from lack of effort lol.

Thanks for the reply man! Though most, if not all of those were hieroglyphics for me, kind understood that.

Just wondering if you didn't spend any money, how were you able to get a hold of hosting?? And would that type of initial strategy get loads of income/profit from ads?

**Sorry for the super dumb questions about it but Im actually really trying out how I can start my blog without me paying for more than $50 because now, I really dont want to spend more than that amount.... if i can**

All answers will deeply be appreciated!!

Amazon web services offers you a year of their stuff for free. Its very complicated and required hours of reading/youtube. But is an option. I figured I could hopefully make enough in that year to easily switch over to a different hosting or pay for theirs, i think Amazon lightsail is affordable as well though not sure how much.


Lol now having problems with my backup. Crappy internet here.

Thanks a lot man for the tips but that's a good way to get started.

With the internet, same $@%#... crappy internet here in the ph.
 
Ok figured Favicon out replaced with a temp one, got backup fixed, swapped out picture for a temp one.

Think I am going to swap themes. Changing nothing but the theme takes me from a page speed mobile score of 22 to 55. Then I can optimize the cost Java etc. Once I figure out how lol.
