Hey guys, I enjoy programming and wanted to get some extra income for my free time by doing freelancing. I created an account on Upwork and tried to apply for small jobs, but nothing..
Would love to hear some tips and stories from the community

It's not a bad idea, but if you want opportunity, BHW all the way brother.
If you can make anything related to Telegram automation, you'll make easy money.

Getting projects on Upwork can be challenging, specially if you are new on the platform and lack reviews or a proven success score to demonstrate to potential clients.

Do you have a well-established portfolio outside of the platform?

How would you build a strong and well-established portfolio?

For earning money on Upwork, ensure your profile really highlights your skills and experience, and always prioritise sending personalized proposals that shows you understand what exactly the client needs. And, delivering great work consistently will help you get good reviews and attract more clients over time. Also, quote small values initially. After having built a great portfolio you could quote high values and generate a decent income from upworks eventually.

I improved just by doing. I get an idea once every couple of months, work on it non stop, and then learn a lot from doing it. I never watched or did any course, I think the best way to learn is by doing your own thing.

patience, now almos everyone knows about upwork and market is full is really competitive unless you already have a background or recomendations that can make you shine over other people, be patience and something will show up, also I do not apply to job positions where the closing times or anything is too long because seems they just want to have backup people in case someone left the company but not hiring for real.

Start with small and inexpensive orders. At first, take inexpensive projects. Yes, it may not be very profitable, but you need to earn reviews. One satisfied client will bring you more orders in the future.

Hey! Cool that you’re trying freelancing on Upwork. It’s not easy in the beginning, but don’t give up. Here’s what worked for me and some friends:
1.Fix your profile. Make sure it looks professional—add your skills, a short description, and maybe a few projects you’ve done before (even personal stuff works).
2.Start small. Go for quick and cheap jobs first, just to get some reviews. Even $10 projects help you look more reliable for clients.
3.Write better proposals, don’t copy-paste stuff. Try to write something personal for each job and explain how exactly you can help them. Clients love that.
Hope you are going to succeed in this!
