Need to bounce some thoughts off people:

Essentially I got a $1000 from a scholarship that I don't need... want to invest it in myself in the best way possible.

Starting from scratch - how would you suggest to use the $1000 to make you more money?

Couple ideas I had in mind:

  • Do SEO/FB on my photography website - get more clients. Downside being its time = money and want something more location independent.
  • FB Ads for leads for SEO or FB - don't know feasibility regarding this.
  • Buy/create a niche website, build it up with some links and content, slow profit.
  • Invest the $ into getting logos, doing outreach and lead gen, etc.

invest in inner circle/course to create your digital product preferably simple ones like extension instead of full blown ones to start with. you will be suprised they aren't that competitive and you can set your own profit.
Have affiliate promote for you or simply resell it to others as a DFY package.

You need to invest in something that you already know how to make money with. Otherwise, it will be wasted.

So hopefully you learned something here and know how to manually make money. Now you can scale it up with that $1000.

Any other method that you never tried, I could be you'll lose that money.

Maybe you could build a brand on something you are really interested in (photography related), and then promote it through you photography website, assuming you already have some clients. $1000 are enough for a start.

Invest in social media, mostly influencers at the beginning and consider an Instagram farm (child method) to maximize the reach via micro targeting.

A lesson I've learned from Facebook Ads:
Spendthe ads money in gaining follows, use HQ posts for conversion. So instead of / beside FB ads for purchase conversion, spend the money to build a base of followers which will sooner or later be your customers. Facebook Ads Platform is time effective , since you have the audience insight tool among the others, yet via botting and setting up an instagram farm you will have an extra value of owning numerous accounts, all having subniche followers.

You will burn money with ads of any sort $1k really isn't a lot of money when it comes to this.

The question I always ask when I come to this is:
What is your skill?
What are your passions?

You've got a scholarship so I take it you're in Uni? What are you studying?
I'd be looking down the video creation route but until we know your skills and passions no one can really help.

I think dropshipping will still work with this budget. And you're in control of your profit margins.

Dropshipping left a bad taste in my mouth but once I have one secure income source, will definitely try this again.

What do you mean a simple one like extension?

Smart answer. Let's see the ways I've made online:
  • Writing articles - been doing this for 3 years now
  • Photography - made $10,000 in my first year, but being in UNI makes it hard to continue.
  • Pressure Washing (through facebook and Craigslist) - made $1200 in a summer, good hourly rate, seasonal
  • Designing websites for some friends on squarespace - not expandable
  • I have two warm leads on SEO - does that count? - Both are interested, one said will contact me when ready, so idk but would be $1500/month and $1000/month

From just reading this, I can't imagine what would need to happen - clients are usually one time businesses or wedding couples.

This kind of just restated what I already know... hence the post asking people for ideas.

Outsource the SEO jobs and invest profits into something else

such as chrome extensions. Honey is one example, simple concept, in 2017 worth 40million , no huge inventory but only coupons.
i've seen someone made 70+k in less than a year, all without knowing coding and through outsource cheap. And another simply resell as he wants to move to other project and got few k for it. so depends on what you want actually

I've answered your points in green;

Smart answer. Let's see the ways I've made online:
  • Writing articles - been doing this for 3 years now ( You can still do this as a side income stream )
  • Photography - made $10,000 in my first year, but being in UNI makes it hard to continue. ( What makes it so hard to continue - not able to get out and shoot photos? )
  • Pressure Washing (through facebook and Craigslist) - made $1200 in a summer, good hourly rate, seasonal. ( As writing, a side income )
  • Designing websites for some friends on squarespace - not expandable ( so forget this one )
  • I have two warm leads on SEO - does that count? - Both are interested, one said will contact me when ready, so idk but would be $1500/month and $1000/month ( next question is how good are you at seo? If you're not then you need to outsource this, so the figues will be much, much lower )

Your photography is the one I'd focus on to begin with. You've 2 other options to earn money on the side while still at uni.

I would buy 2 amazon affiliate sites, rank them, and then wait to bank. The other option for this amount of investment is CPA, which is highly competitive, but if you find a good offer, you could be a winner.

Assuming you don't have any major hidden talents, for that money there are 3 ways you can go.

1. Set up a drop shipping store
2. Become an influencer
3. Build an agency

Your first decision is to decide what direction you want to go in. Then perhaps we can help you figure out how to achieve that.

Holy smokes! That requires thinking - a lot of it. Truly something I'll look into but as a secondary or third option.

Photography is difficult since I don't have a car and live on campus. Perhaps if I focused and got gigs regularly, it would work. Plus I want to go away from this as weddings are stressful as fuck tbh. They pay well though lol.

Same thing with writing - I've hit a ceiling when it comes to hourly rate, and don't like how my time is tied to a check. Perhaps its necessary for the time being as I don't have another source of income likewise.

When it comes to SEO, I am outsourcing this. I'll handle content (writing experience) and use some link building packages and stuff from the forums here. I want my profit margin to be at least $500 (so $1500/month - spend $750 pocket the other).

Pressure washing is something I might get back into if I'm ever home during the summers - I spend an increasing amount of time travelling.

I would buy 2 amazon affiliate sites, rank them, and then wait to bank. The other option for this amount of investment is CPA, which is highly competitive, but if you find a good offer, you could be a winner.

I've thought of amazon aff. links. Do you recommend someone in particular to make them? There's just so many people on here making them..

Pretty much. 2nd isn't for me (at the moment), trying to do number 3,, and perhaps #1 at a later date.
