Starting an affiliate network

Hi guys, it's been a long time I'm thinking in opening an affiliate network company, based on pay per performance model.

There are some things I don't understand and I'm sure you can help me with:

1) With what should I start working on in your opinion?
2) How basically sales/leads are tracked? (I'm a developer I don't have all the information I need to develop my own affiliate network script)

Any additional information is accepted

First learn all the traits before going this route. It's not that easy as you think.

I think I already know how it works. The only problem for me is how it is practically, more specific the only thing I need to know is how one conversion is tracked, so that I can adapt my software to the other big networks, what can you tell me about this?

two very important things to consider:

1. very current platform
2. extremely sophisticated software tracker to avoid guys like US...

Hey, same here! Trying to start an affiliate network for niche i use to be an affiliate manager in and know quite well. Trying to implement other programs other than CPA but if anyone has a recommendation for a good tracking platform it would be great
