Hey there,

I am just starting a website after a long time.

Not sure which hosting to go for. I am thinking of hostinger. I'll mostly rely on SEO so hosting has to be better.

Should I go for shared hosting? will that stop me from ranking a site?

Thanks

Hostinger's not a bad choice. See Namecheap.com's offers as well.

should I go for shared hosting or wordpress hosting or VPS? Is shared okay for SEO?

And also, what wordpress theme would you recommend for a informative blog?

Shared hosting would do for a blog that does not have 100s of people online at the same time. So for the first years it will be all good.

Your host should have huge delays for it to effect the SEO and I doubt that you would run into this issue with a reputable server provider.

WordPress hosting, mostly, is a cool name for a shared hosting plan with extra $, few of the hosting providers would actually include a platform which is better for WordPress in that package (Litespeed, etc.).

But you're just starting, so how about buying a shared hosting account, installing WordPress (most hosting providers gives you the ability to 1-click install) and see where it takes you. no need to over spend when you are not sure where this is going.

About the theme, I can recommend GeneratePress or OceanWP, both easy to configure and design.

I suggest a vps or shared hosting if you are just starting out.

Hostinger would be just fine for beginners friendly web hosting.

I'm a big fan of VPS hosting over Shared Hosting but.. yah.. you can start with shared one

If you have doubts - go for shared hosting and check if your provider has space to upgrade to VPS or dedicated server.
For SEO uptime is very important. So better to check that option before signing up.

For those who need cheap and reliable web hosting service, I would recommend NetShop-isp.com.cy solutions.

For new economy hosting account, Godaddy offers almost 90% off on charges for the first year!
