Hey guys, just looking for some advice !

I am looking to start a wordpress based website. The goals of the website are to show products, give some product review, and ultimately convert viewers into buyers.

Although I cannot go deeper into my niche for obvious reasons , I will say that I will be using Amazon for a lot of my products, as well as some other affiliates as I establish connections with them.

I am just looking for some general advice on themes and plugins.

I was looking at the convergence theme as I think it is slick and professional and easy on the eyes , but am up for other suggestions in this category .

As for as plugins, I am looking for SEO plugins and Amazon product plugins that keep things neat and uncluttered. I am also looking to get my blog socially involved with Pinterest, twitter, and hopefully Facebook. Also, is there a Wordpress Plugin that allows you to redirect images to Amazon with your ref link?

I know I am being really vague and yes I have done my research on these things too, just looking for second opinions and alternate ideas I hadn't thought of!

Hello!

First congrats you take your action.

For themes: I think you should choose a simple theme coz you will focus more on content. I recommend Wordpress Genesis theme. It's very good for optimization

For plugins: I recommend these plugins below to maximize your optimization

1. WordPress SEO by Yoast
2. W3 Total Cache
3. Contact Form 7
4. Google XML Sitemaps
5. TablePress
6. WP Smush.it

Good luck man. Make sure your on-page SEO is in tiptop shape before moving to off-site SEO. Don't jump the gun and build links immediately.

I like using NextScripts to spread my blog posts to my social media accounts. It offers a bit of customization too. It might be worth checking out for you. Other than that, I will also just second getting SEO by Yoast.

You shouldn't need Yoast and Google XML sitemap at the same time. Yoast already contains a sitemap which will work great. Plus having another XML sitemap plugin could conflict, i.e. it will show pages you might have no indexed in Yoast.

you can also add some price comparison module for wordpress there are few like comparepress and others which can show the pricing from other affiliate stores also and this can help ur visitors with better options for using your portal next time,,,

you should undergo SEO, make a simple theme for you to focus in the content, don't rush things, it will take over. read more articles.
