Starting a Manufacturing?

I searched google for manufacturing startups and got ended up in here and I really love the business and tax advice sub forum..

Moving on is it profitable to start a manufacturing business?

I can get workers for like 6-10$ a day and that's working a full 8 hour shift.

What would be the initial capital needed?

It depends.

What kind of manufacturing?
Where are you?
Where will you sell? Same place? Another city? Another country?

1. I was thinking of clothes or a general manufacturing. I'm mostly geared into competing and providing quality items and cheaper than standard chinese manufacturers.

2. Asia ph

3. Can be both but mostly target foreign.

Start by investigating the market.

A. Depends again what you are manufacturing, what size premises you would need, how many workers you need, what equipment you need to buy, what materials you need to purchase initially etc etc etc

Too many variables to give an answer to this. You need to do some research first before you ask questions. We don't know what country you are from and how much it will cost you for business premises or anything really. You might be able to start with $200 or it may cost $20,000

Paying staff is not the main issue, it is getting a factory with machinery set up. Do you have sufficient capital to do that?

I have worked with a number of big brands outsourcing clothing. You will struggle to land any big contracts and just be burning money while you try. So i would suggest you go end to end. In other words make your clothes and sell them online through your own website. Or offer a dropshipping design and manufacture service.

OK. Has any buyer or dealer agreed to buy from you? Do you have an active marketplace to sell your clothes?

What are the skills of these workers? What country are you located?

Since i know someone in this industry, you need a small loan of at least $500.000 or around $200.000 just for the machines. Another 20 to 50k for materials.

Well that's what I'm asking tips from you guys to those that have already started or have been in this industry sheez.

I did and I told that I'm located in Asia in PH. In terms of machinery I'm going to start a Metal or Wood, leather , paper. In terms of machinery I can have it setup on my end for a few thousand dollars in which I already discussed.

Scratching off the clothes as there's a huge competition in which If I start it will be too hard to gain profit for atleast 6 months to a year.

Basic like those you see in factory workers. More in production, Wielding and etc.

I appreciate the replies but in terms of my market it will be with Metal or Wood, leather, paper. In terms of machinery. I already researched about it. In which the most viable option to start for me is through metal. Where I live most hardwares to local fabricators outsource these materials in china, such as;

In which the largest steel manufacturer is currently china if I could just get a percentage of the customers here in my country can definitely profit.

I would not get into that business, unless you've got a niche worked out and you have got pre-orders from a client. For example if you're going to sell military uniforms, or security uniforms, or school uniforms, or fireproof jackets for firemen etc.

otherwise, I wouldn't get into clothing. Really tough niche.

You'll probably need around $100k set up a little light manufacturing business.

Well I did say above that I'm going to be scratching that off and gonna go ahead with Metal
